LSU Saban era, defensive weakness

When Saban was here we always gave up short passes to RBs. I hope GC installs alot of these in our game plan.

Also allowed last second, final play hail mary passes. Throw it long and give Toliver, Lafell a chance to get the ball and LSU wins. Saban thinks covering a WR means staying with him in a foot race. They don't play the ball.

almost cost us the UGA game too. It was 10-3 late in the 4th, and we gave up a 90+ yard TD on a RB screen.
Luckily, we scored a TD on the next drive I believe.

The FB breaks up the middle and is usually wide open against aa Saban D. UGA did this repeatedly aginst LSU when Saban was coach. Also the TE seems to have alot of success against Saban's Ds. And a couple times a season, a RB will gut his D for some unknown reason.

I honestly think screens to the running back and passes to the TEs in the flat will be key. Have our WR pull their DBs deep and give Dickson some one on one opportunities with the LBers.

that is what I noticed. I remeber we got beat by arkansas in 02? and Iowa in the 04 capitol one bowl on last minute long passes. Something to keep in mind

True and it's still a chink in the armor. They overplayed to the flats against UT trying to take away dump offs to the RBS and Crompton roll outs. Gave Crompton some good looks downfield.

chavis has that same weakness. it's tough to cover the rb's out of the backfield. we should run a lot more of those; the qb can unload the pass fairly quickly.
