is what LSU did for 97% of the night. Sheppard's 69 yard touch covers up that stat.

That is abysmal. It's twice as bad when you consider the competition.

Yet our pass blocking was excellent, and Auburn actually has some great talent on their DL.

at least teh coaches realize that running isn't an option and they stopped trying to, for the most part, last night

at least they stopped trying to treat it as our main offensive identity until that stupid goaline series when they tried to run JJand derailed our offense

Or better yet, running the option.

Other then that run by Shepard, Jefferson was our leading rusher. Why did Keiland Williams only get one carry? We need to improve our running game if we want to get by Bama

Should LSU abandon the run, or just use it to keep the D honest?

we need to just go full out spread

it's crowton's bread and butter

throw in some spread option and option with shep

throw in a few draws and runs here or there to keep the D honest (and short yardage)

we can't rely on the running game, and if our coaches run the option with JJ again it will be a huge fail

would Les have lost the team for the season if they'd have ran it one more time?

THe problem is that our running game is too predictable. If Scott is in, its a run up the middle. Holliday or Williams, its a run to the outside. Shepard is probably our best chance at opening up the running, he just needs carries. Besides putting Shepard and Holliday on the field, why not put Shepard and Scott on the field? This way, the defense has to account for the outside and the middle. I will notify the coaches immediatley.

i can only imagine how badly that game would have turned out had AU capitalized with a TD after that

it would have been the classic "oh shite" moment where LSU loses its confidence and goes into a hole

I agree.
Shep's stats should be stricken from the record.

so, in your opinion, the character level of this team is so bad, they would've folded the tent for the season had AU cut the score to 14-7??

game, possibly. and if we lose that game, oh man it could have happened. losing to shitty teams at home is never good

but this isn't some 2009 characteristic. LSU under miles is the king of huge swings due to losing swagger b/c the other team made a big play (the proverbial "punching the bully in the mouth" move)

the best example was 2007 against Bama. that was f'in ugly

But they have a ton of 4th quarter comebacks. It's hard to question the fight of his teams.

Odds are that Shep won't break one each game so establishing a running game is important. Problem is it doesn't look like a reality this year. And that could be ok if the passing game gets better each week. Utah didn't run for shite against Bama and I'm sure Les and company will be reviewing that film quite a bit.
