I do not think benching Jefferson is the answer to the LSU offense. While the offense is struggling to move the ball and put points on the board Lee is not the answer either.
Both QB's are young, both are still going through growing pains. Jefferson now has 8 starts under his belt and 9 games of significant playing time. Playing him and him not learning from his mistakes is what hurt Lee last year. Maybe take him out for a series, half, or quarter and sit him down to see the field/speed of game before throwing him to wolves.
Lee has 8 starts under his belt and 8 with significant playing time. If you put Lee back there again and he struggles there would be no way he could see the field again LSU fans will rip him apart. Not to mention what it could do to him psychologically.

The better option would be to rotate QB's much how LSU did in 2004. Play the hot hand as Jefferson, Lee, Shepard bring different attributes to the table. Sure this may result in an extra loss but I would be willing to take the 1 extra loss to actually see a QB develop for next year.

Both of the options this year are young, both are still relatively inexperienced, and both have untapped potential. I say rotate QB's and then play the hot hand, who ever that may be.

There HAS to be some change though....if not we are in BIG trouble. Not saying that it is all Jefferson's fault, we just need a new "spark" just to see what may become of it...if it is a disaster after a couple of quarters (which I doubt) then put JJ back in...

I don't think this is a surprise to anyone...if we see little or no improvement from the offense this Saturday, we are in deep doo-doo...
Something needs to change...

Not a bad idea, but someone has to know that he's the starter unless he has a total meltdown. Lee needs to see the field one way or another. We'll never know if he's gotten past his freshman struggles unless he gets to play.

As I said, maybe going back to how 04 was with Randall, Flynn, Russell. Play all 3 and then staying with the hot hand once the game gets into a groove.

Started does not mean as much to me as who may play significant minutes in the game. Develop a plan with the QB's and inform them before game starts. That depending on situation this is when they will come in to run the offense.

We're 6 games in. Is that not enough of a trend? Much easier to make change w/ 2 wks to prepare than after this week.

We had a two quarterback system as recently as last year! It worked fine until Hatch got a concussion.

Jefferson is better.

No pick 6's

Better game manager and can always scramble too. JL has the dear in headlights look, he lacks confidence and should probably transfer to DII. I like JL, good kid, just not good enough to be at LSU.

JL was far more highly recruited. Just so you know. Also, I can't ever remember LSU being ranked down around 109 in the nation in offense, and I suffered through the Hallman years.

Thats true he was. Though we all witnessed what happened last year. I think he's a good kid, but honestly forget stats and rankings, I know I was sick to my stomach when we lost maybe 3 games just because of pick 6's.

I'll take a sack and maybe a chance to punt/go for it on 4th down over a pick 6 and possibly a 10-14 point swing. It absolutely kills the momentum.

Well I went to Florida game and every home game, and that ain't what a saw. I saw a defense led by co coordinators that were both incompetent.

Now, you can blame Lee but you need to look closely at these games.

e.g.

At UF, they go up 20-0. W/ 45 seconds left on clock in 2nd qtr, Lee led a td drive. Opening drive 3rd qtr, lee led td drive. It was 20-14 and the Swamp was dead quiet. Next UF possession, was 3rd and 3, and no one put a hat on Tebow. All 80k+ fans new Tebow was going to carry the ball. He waltzed thorough a volkswagen size hole in our D-line for 8 yds. That was the game.

Against bama, if Mitchell catches the pass that hit him in the hands he cruises into the endzone. The pass was perfect and Mitchell was beyond all coverage. Also, the first int bounced off D Byrd's numbers.

You can talk ints all you want, but Lee put up some impressive numbers also. Our D allowed a 3rd string qb from Troy to run up and down the field on us. Lee led the largest 4th qtr comeback in LSU history.

Oh, and against GA, that game was tied 7-7. After the ill advised throw that resulted in 6 for GA, Lee led the next drive to tie the game. Then our D allowed Stafford to put on a clinic w/ little resistance.

Yeah, how long are we going to keep using this "Pick6" excuse?? If you don't think that we need to "try" Jarrett Lee for at least a quarter or so...you don't know football or you don't see what is coming in LSU's future, as far as SEC play goes...

Why not try Russell Sheppard

He was even more highly recruited and is a once in a decade player.

I would say Sheppard is ahead in the 'lets just try this and find out' list.

go back and watch Lee's footwork, set up, etc. in last year video. yeah, he made mistakes and got thrown to wolves. but, he should be playing some now since it's clear jefferson can't carry load.

There is a reason why you are not the HC at LSU.
