I think the slow, deep drop is a result of him not being sure of himself. It takes a bunch of reps before a QB is comfortable enough to react without having to think first. He is trying to think and then react instead of processing and reacting out of habit/instinct. He seems out of sorts out there. I'm confident he knows his reads but it is one think to know your reads in pass skel and quite another to have that processing carry over into live action. Maybe he isn't the most ardent worker in the offseason.

That last poster hit the nail on the head. When you are unsure it shows. If you don't have confidence in yourself then you5r team mates will know it.

one problem is the staff seems hellbent on keeping all 12 offensive strategies in place, vs. narrowing it down to the things he does best. IMO, we need to go back to running an I-formation/shotgun combo with some Shep mixed in to change it up a little. Dump the 4&5 wides and dump the option. Finally, go back to the huddle to give him and the line a few extra seconds to visualize how the play might unfold.
