At some point in '06 the offense was re-oriented around JaMarcus and three solid receivers (Bowe, Davis, and Doucet).

I wish Miles would start running the offense - he can't do much worse than where we already are with Crowton.

Haven't you people noticed by now that the play calling isn't the problem? Crowton is doing the best he can with what he has to deal with. The play calling hasn't been bad at all, players just aren't executing. He is making good calls.

For example, the 4th and 1 against UF that we didn't convert. We had one yard to go and everyone criticized him for not running Scott up the middle. Let me take you through that thought process.

Alright so it's 4th and 1, we've had no success running the ball, we got stuffed on the goal line a little while ago...TWICE. So we need to do something different this time around. So let's try and get a high percentage short pass out of this. Here's the hang up. Our O-line has been porous the whole game so let's not risk a play action and get sacked because if we line up in an I, they're gonna bring the house and we'll get smoked. So, let's stick him in the shotgun with 5-wide and spread the D out to reduce the pressure as much as possible. That'll give JJ at least 5-7 seconds to make a decision and hopefully make a play.

Ok so Crowton makes that play call, its snapped, and what does JJ do? Stare down TToliver and when it turns out that he's covered, JJ panics. He doesn't check down, or look for anyone else, he looks at where he can scramble to and that is no where cause he stared down TT for so long that the pocket is now closing. Well now JJ is in trouble and guess what? He gets sacked.

That play call was an excellent choice in that situation because of how the game had gone up until that point and had JJ executed correctly and used his brain, we could've made the first down.
