re: Why are you afraid of Bama after one loss?

I know reality doesn't sit well with many of you.
Did you bother reading any of the previous points or did you merely want to add to the post count.
I clearly pointed out that we have played our worst offense against the most dominant d in college football
It can't get any worse - that is what happens when everyone else is ranked less than the one that you have just played (i.e. Florida)
I also mentioned that I because of probability we have nowhere to go but UP and that means given our Defense - and no reason that we will not continue to do that - we wouldn't need too many points to beat Alabama either
I know that neither reading comprehension nor logic sits well with many of you.

Regardless of how they played each time - they kept the ball out of the end zone - AND THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS From a defensive standpoint.
The offense is getting ripped right now, and rightfully so, but it's hard to put up alot of points when your defense is on the field all game. Our offense seldom plays with a short field because our defense seldom gets any 3 and outs. The consensus was that our offense played their best half of football in the 1st half vs. UGA. It's no coincedence that the defense actually gave the offense the ball with good field position that half instead of the usual own 20 yd line or worse. Also, common sense tells you that the more offensive possessions a team has, the more chances to score. LSU had only 3 possessions (if you don't count the 50 second desperation drive) in the first half, and we received the ball first. That is about as few possessions as you will ever see for a college football half.

Catastrophe syndrome that many LSU fans embrace.
If we don't win them all by 30, we suck.

I agree that the offense had reached real low levels but it is difficult to accept arguments against the D's capacity based on their performance against a #1 Florida.
All I am saying is that against the other teams - the D did manage more than a few 3 and outs and gave good field position.
I am stating that if we maintain Status Quo on the D till Bama and going by history and probability if we increase our Offense by even a smidgeon we are back in the game.
HENCE I am not having the same apprehension towards facing Bama as I would have before the UGA and UF games were played

I clearly pointed out that we struggled against inferior defenses this year, so it doesn't take a genius to understand that we would struggle mightily against better defenses like UF and Bama.

Sure it can. If our offense doesn't improve, we'll have more losses in the 2nd half of the season.
More losses = getting worse.

Except for the ranking factor for the geniuses and non-geniuses alike - We have faced say the 80th, 60, ... and the #1D as well.
If we have played a certain way against the #1 D then logic dictates that if we maintain status quo we will do better against anything less than #1.
Hence the OFFENSE CANT GET WORSE because it can't face a much better D than the #1 D.
You are stating that if we get worse we lose
and I am saying that we maintain status quo - I don't see much difference except one is tempered a bit with optimism and the other with a bit of pessimism

That is why my previous statement sounded contradictary. I applaud the defense for playing hard, and they gave us a chance to win, but we caught some breaks to hold UF that low. I do see this defense improving each week, which is a big plus. However, Bama's offense has been very good, and if I had to rank the two teams, I would put Bama ahead of Florida. It would not be hard to imagine Bama's defense smothering our offense, especially with all of the sacks we've been giving up. If the offense is sputtering, Bama's offense will eventually wear down our defense. I am hopeful, but not optomistic.

Yeah I can see where you are going - I am hopeful too but with a bit more of optimism.
Given that our Running is yet to take off it doesn't matter if the opponent D suffocates us 100% or 120% - we have reached the limit.
When I watched the Bama games I noticed that their CBs and Safeties were not spectacular and that Florida had a better set of players.
So if we improve even just a little I think we can match up much better against them in the passing game.
I am hopeful that Miles would take this time to re-analyze the situation and get our O going and if the D retains their growth - we could be in for a good bowl at the end of the year.

I'm saying if the offense stays the same as it has been the first 6 games, we lose more than one game in the 2nd half.
There is nothing in the first 6 games to suggest we will get better on offense. You are simply hoping we improve, as am I.

To be honest - If I don't retain this optimism a bit it is going to be hell at home

The D couldn't get off the field. On 3rd down, UF was 5/12, yet when your yards per play is over 5, you don't need to convert many. They were gifted a few conversions by penalty and had 22 first downs.
Florida only scored on 3/9 of their drives. However, they took a knee on a one play drive to end the first half, and they had a game ending drive of 6 plays and 12 yards. On that last drive they got a first down, then started kneeling. They also missed a relatively short FG, and threw an INT on the second play of a drive that started at the LSU 36. So, two of those nine drives were clock killers only. The INT came after a 3 yard run. Tebow was not worried about a turnover with the ball on the LSU 36, so he went for a playaction kill-shot with 6 minutes left. Jai spoiled that. Unfortunatley, he gave us the ball inside the 5 yard line.
Only on 6 of the 9 drives did Florida try to actually drive the football. If we take those 6 drives and look at the yardage gained, the Tigers D got shredded in yards per drive and TOP.
The good things were the Red Zone D and the lack of many big plays. They were stingy around the goaline as the field shortened and only gave up 13 points.

Alabama doesn't scare me. LSU has the talent to go toe to toe with them and win.
But LSU scares me. LSU scares me because I can't figure out what the problem with the offense is.
Is it the OL?
Is it the running backs?
Is it the passing game?
Is it the dropped balls?
Is it the no-huddle?
Is it the obviously inadequate play calling?
Is it poor clock management?
Is it the scheme does not fit with the talent?
Is it that certain game-breakers are not in the game much if at all?
Is it poor field position and not much time on the field?
Is it Red-Zone erectile dysfunction?
Is it just coaching?
Is it all of the above?
Is that just too simple?
That's why LSU scares me. Our Tigers do not have their act together on offense, and barely on defenese (but improving). LSU scares me because we're underachieving and beating ourselves or looking bad even when we win.

LSU needs to worry about its own self. And after that just Auburn. These Tigers have a whole lot of fixing to do and less than two weeks to do it. I suggest they huddle up, call a play and run it like they mean it instead of this Curly, Larry and Moe act they bring to the line of scrimmage every down. What's the NCAA season record for delay of game penalties against a no-huddle offense? Let's count LSU's through six games and submit the total for consideration. Perhaps the lack of execution has to do with players having a mere 2-3 seconds to digest their assignments. The LSU offense looks like a fire drill. Physically gifted athletes are underachieving because their minds aren't given time to focus on their assignments. I long for not-so-distant day when the Tigers arrived at the line with a sense of purpose.

Why so fearful?
You mistake fear for realism. Our offense sucks. We will be lucky to score 3 points in Bama. Do you think our defense is good enough to win 3-0? The question is why do you think we have a reasonable chance? Which of our stellar pereformances convicinces you that we will go into Bama and win?

For one thing it's Bama and Little Nick. You don't think LSU will be up for the game? It's gonna be close just like last year.
