"It seems like Les Miles and his staff are the last ones to know how their lines are struggling."

My mid-season coaching grades:

Miles: D -- Does he do any coaching at all during the games? Crowton and Chavis call all the plays. Miles seems to be there as a figurehead and nothing more. Worse, he seems constantly confused on the sideline, and lacks the will or ability to adjust as things go wrong during the games, and as the season progresses. He reminds me more of George W. Bush every day. Someone needs to do an intervention with Coach Miles and let him know something's wrong; very, very wrong.

Crowton: F -- No redeeming values whatsoever to this offense. So much talent is being wasted. Play calling is predictable and pedestrian. Worst Offense in my 30+ years of watching LSU football.

Chavis: A -- You can't ask any more out of the guy. The D has made steady improvement throughout the season, culminating in a spectacular gameplan and performance last night; if it wasn't for Crowton's ineptness, LSU beats UF. Despite the line play; he's doing the best with the players he has. The same surely can't be said for Crowton, who imho should be put squarely in the hot seat.

I have to say I used to think Miles made some play calls but after seeing him last night and his postgame talk.. I dont think he has any idea what is being called. However the really REALLY scary thing is that Miles thinks the problem is that we are not running Scott enough.

The UGLY truth, is still the truth.

...sometimes I feel that Miles thinks
"he has arrived"..2 NC titles.

then he may not like to micro manage and involve himself in the day to day coaching..who knows ???

.....He better start paying attention, or he may find himself having to really coach for a living elsewhere.

Last year the "two headed" disaster, now the Offensive picture...

Almost reminds me of the saying
"too many people quit working as soon as they find a job"

I hope he gets IN THE MIDDLE OF THINGS and quits worrying about hurting feelings....if that's the problem.

Crowton definitely needs to go. His offenses always start to suck after a year or two. He's continuing that trend.

Although, that 2002 offense was pretty putrid too. 2004 wasnt much better either.

Actually, I think Lowell Galindo said it more succinctly on SportscenterU, "It's official, the LSU offense does not know what it wants to do."

I think it's particularly accurate for his use of the word 'want'.

Its sad to see one of our best senior classes in recent years go down like this. Scott, Lafell, Black, Keiland, Dickson and Trinton deserve better for what they put in this team all these years.

I read but rarely post because this site is mostly about bashing ... but after watching the game last night I have to say something ....

I agree with he original post; I haven't played football since 1983 but the same things hold true now that held true then ... O & D lines win games, especially in the SEC.

How can we have a starting offensive line that never substitutes? Our back-ups are that bad? If so, then this year is probably the last year we see a top 25 ranking and Les will go down like Dinardo, start fast and fade down the stretch due to hubris and arrogance.

You are not wrong, but remember that we lost a couple of BIG NAMES in the O line..that hurts a lot..
IMO, we do not implement a game plan that compliments either our QB's talent, or our
O Line's ability....there are ways to get more out of what you have.

^^^ true, I could write a laundry list of the things wrong ... basically IMHO, we are not very well coached in that regard, why do we have spread Coaches but don't run the spread?
