Where does the Brantley Confidence come from?

Florida fans and media seem very confident that a 2nd string qb can come into Tiger Stadium and perform at the level of a 30 game veteran.......Where does this confidence come from?
We've only seen him play in garbage time, and we've heard all about his magical spring ball skills but seriously where do they get this confidence?

Just like JJ.. star recruit with "tremendous upside."

i don't doubt that he is a very good qb. the only thing he lacks are reps.
he has the potential to have a "coming out party"
he has the potential to have a "coming out party"

Making your first start in Tiger Stadium against a fired-up LSU squad is not exactly the ideal time for a QB to have his "coming out party."
Unlike Brantley, JJ has actually started 7 games, four of them against SEC competition. If not for a defensive meltdown against Arky last fall, JJ should be 4-0 against the SEC.

Exactly. JJ didn't lose as a starter in H.S. He looked good last year but has struggled at times this year and even struggled in a hostile road start in his 7th college start. I'm not sure what makes everyone so sure Brantley would set the world on fire if he made his first start in Tiger Stadium.

I don't doubt that he is an awesome qb too........but too have a coming out party in Death Valley on Saturday night.........
Good luck with that one buddy......
I get that he is talented.........but he hasn't ever taken a snap as a starter in his LIFE for the gators.

Must we remind Gator fans that Tebow lost 5 games as a first year starter. Starting QB face lots of different denfensive packages.

Hope they brought change of drawers for 'em,
he'll need'em.

Like Brantley, Russel Sheppard is talented too and has a world of "potential." Does any LSU fan want Sheppard to make his first start tomorrow night against Florida?
Forget I asked that. It will start a thread of its own.

When will Tebow have a party to announce that he's "coming out"?

I'd say they are more confident in their defense than Brantley and our lack of offensive firepower to this point.

Must I remind you that we lost 4 games. And Tebow didn't lose those games, a shitty defense did.

I'd like to see the W-L stat for first time starters in the SEC. Anyone???

Well, accoring to one of the Pouncey twins (I never know which one), the fact that Florida recruited him makes him the very best.

Brantley seems to be a pure QB unlike JJ...he broke every passing record there was in Florida high school football and he is a redshirt sophomore so this is his third year in the system. I would guess the reason for the confidence is mostly that he is a "pure qb" and is likely to have the instincts that go along with that.
There are learning curves for any qb, but it seems pretty obvious that JJ's curve is a little steeper than most. His athleticism, determination not to "lose" the game for us and great talent around him make him serviceable so far.
Brantley seems to have the potential to be a lights out Stafford, Wuerfel, Bradford type talent...
I hope our d destroy's whoever they put back there...Can't wait for tomorrow night
