I went a couple of weeks ago It's casual but I wouldn't walk in with a "Big Johnson t-shirt. Grab a menu and post it on here some time. Everything we had was top notch. Get a reservation if you haven't already.

Yes, you can. I fricking love that place. It might be crowded so have some patience. Please let us know what you had. I haven't been in a couple of months so I am eager to hear of any new menu items. One of my favorite spots for casual dining.

Yeah I just called the lady right after I posted, she said "wear whatever is most comfortable." I've been wanting to go for like 6 months, the atmosphere is identical to Eleven79. Alright, here's what we got (long):
Drinks:
I got the NOLA Brown and a NOLA Blond, mom got some white wine (I believe it was the Domaine Schlumberger), dad got a vodka tonic.
Apps:
Big bowl of fries, which were spectacular. I got the boudin balls and the country terrine. Boudin balls were delicious and the terrine was good; I've had better terrine, but it was still tasty. Mom got the blackened shrimp and grit cake, that was fricking awesome. Dad got the salad and sister got the mussels, neither of which I got to taste, but they're both incredibly picky eaters and had no complaints, so I can only guess that it was good.
Mains:
Mom got the baby drum. It had a really strong garlic sauce, which, being a person who likes garlic, I (as well as her) thought was great.
I got the smoked scallops with chimichurri and spatezle. Absolutely great. Buttery, smokey, but a nice contrast with the chimichurri and crunch spaetzle.
Dad got the pulled pork cake. I thought it was fantastic, like a perfect amount of smoke and a nice spice kick, but it was obviously made from a similar batch/recipe as the boudin balls, which he didn't particularly like. He still ate the whole thing, and as I said, he's a picky eater and gets kind of antsy in loud places, but he seemed like he enjoyed it nonetheless.
Sister got the duck (not the small plate, the large plate, its not listed on the online menu). fricking. Awesome. Invariably, duck finds its way onto most menus at the restaurants here, and invariably, either my sister or my dad gets whatever duck dish is on there, so we've had our fair share of duck tastings. This was one of the best, if not the best, and that includes Patois, Gautreaus, and Iris, to name a few. It was like prime rib tender. Really, unbelievable good.
Sister's bf ordered the brisket initially, but they were out, so he changed over to the ribs. He's a picky eater too (doesn't eat seafood wtfmate), but he ate everything, so again, I have to assume it was good.
Desserts:
Two people got krispy kreme bread pudding. It tastes exactly like you expect it to, not a lot to say about it one way or the other. Mom got the chili chess cake, and I got the vanilla bacon fudge ice cream. I couldn't really taste the heat in the cake, but I only took a small bite, but mom said it was there and she loved it. I also couldn't really taste the bacon in my ice cream, it pretty much just tasted like vanilla ice cream.
Small place, definitely loud, but I would think a good place for an early date or something, because it is so lively and comparatively cheap. Ours came out to ~$40 person. I really want to go back for lunch and get the duck poboy.

Not right now, no. They have some special on Mondays, 5 courses 5 beers (they have good beers too) for $60. Sounded like a good deal to me. It is on Jeannette right behind Cafe Lebanon. It's a little house, and the sign says Iris (old restaurant).

Went Saturday for lunch, and was thoroughly impressed. Had the blackened shrimp w/ grit cakes, parmesan garlic fries, 12-hour roast beef poboy, sausage poboy w/ goat cheese and roasted peppers, and, of course, Krispy Kreme bread pudding. Only thing I didn't care for was the r.b. poboy; it was a little salty for my taste.
