team gave up to Georgia in the 2004 arse-whipping of the decade for us? I think the Chief's tribe does a better on Saturday.

But that D that coughed up 45 points was fluid, disciplined, and had lots of attention to detail.

No, I predict it's a close game like the Auburn game with Saban and Muschamp giving up a 4th and forever to let Auburn win the game. Hopefully our D is more disciplined this time around than at that time.

Yeah, that defense that let Oregon State, Ole Miss, Troy, and let's not forget the dicipline crew that gave up a 60 yard pass on the last play of the game on the last play of the game against Iowa.

LSU most likely holds Georgia under 45. But it won't mean Miles is a better coach than Saban.

Chavis coaches the defense so why are you saying Miles is not as good a coach as Saban. Saban's 5th year team was the worst team in his five years -- slightly below his 3ed year team. His 2ned and 4th were his best and only real good teams.

wtf? We were the Bluegrass Miracle away from having a 6-6 regular season.*

*Nevertheless, that team had great discipline and was detail-oriented.

News Flash - the D that gave up 50 points last year resulted in D coaches no longer with the program and with new coaches, many new starters, and a new scheme, we are better than last year's horrible D. Read the papers.

the 3ed year bluegrass miricle team was not good, nor was Saban's 5th year team that struggled in nearly every game to come from behind in a lack-luster year. I reconsider - the 3ed and 5th years tie for worst Saban teams at LSU.

So if you're supposed to be good and give up 45+ it's OK...but if you're struggling and give up 45+ you still a huge disappointment (all else equal of course)?

Think about it.

And, the Miracle was needed only because said disciplined, detail-oriented defense let Lorenzon rip them apart in the 2nd half. Thank goodness we had emotional defensive coaches who could inspire those boys to play harder.

Indeed. Instead of giving up a mere 30 points, a less animated staff would have surely given up 35, or more.

The D didn't give up 50 to georgia Lee threw 2 pick 6's so they gave up less than 40.

It is really sad that some of the Saban nuthuggers on this board have a hard time realizing that Saban had two bad years. And yes we were absoulutely lucky to win with the bluegrass miracle.

Just wait, if Alabama has an excellent season, as early play suggests, Bammers will have the biggest boners for him. They will set standards that may be unrealistic and when Nicky has a season where he goes .500 in the SEC, watch out. There will be rednecks out for blood and it will garner lots of media attention.

Actually I would like to know - more than just a few .....

Has anyone with any cred actually said that to you or have you read that anywhere or heard any reliable source say it?

You surely can't be going by games (win/loss) or by recruiting because Miles hands Saban his arse in the former and meets him fair and square in the latter.
