I was wondering if anyone could help me out.
I am part of are group that picks a different college football game every year and enjoy the whole game day experience. We have picked LSU for this years trips. We are coming from Wisconsin so we are looking for any tips/ideas. LSU has been on our list for years but never could get everyone together. We are coming in for the Auburn game on October 24th and are really looking forward to the trip.
So my question to you all is, what should we do during our trip, what are the "don't miss" things, tailgating tips or any ideas on how to enjoy the whole LSU experience in our short time here.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

try to walk around the parade grounds on Highland rd. this is where alot of the students tailgate, and the campus around that area is beautiful. if you want to see where the big boys tailgate walk down Nicholson to Stadium drive and head towards the levee (away from the stadium) where all the campers are. these guys have the best food there is. which reminds me dont bring any food just lots of beer, tell people you're from wisconsin, this is your first time to an LSU game and you want to check out the food and tailgating and you're belly will be full by the end of the day.
check out mike's (the tiger) habitat right in front of the stadium next to the basketball arena. if you want the best boudin balls ever go to a place called Jumbalaya by Shake, also right in front of the p-mac (basketball arena). auburn will probably be a 6 or 7 ESPN game so the band will be marching down the hill around 4:15 (if 6:00 game) or 5:15 (if 7:00 game). DON'T MISS IT!! right after they're done marching down the hill head inside the stadium and if you miss them march down the hill make sure you don't miss pregame. glad you guys are coming, it's a celebration, enjoy yoself

lastly don't believe any of the whining from the negative LSU fans on here, they aren't really fans at all. The LSU tailgating is the best you will find in the SEC,the food, drink, southern hospitality, the legendary Tiger stadium, and of course the beautiful ladies of LSU. Enjoy yourself, take plenty of pictures, also video. You will want to re-live your experience over and over again. Gosh i miss it already...

Here's what I would do:
1. Stay downtown at the Capital Center Hilton; newly opened, totally renovated hotel and pickup and drop off of game day shuttle and other benefits discussed below.
2. Arrive in town no later than Friday during the day, and spend Friday afternoon walking on campus to get the layout of the land, etc. Each lunch and drink at one or more of the places around campus (i.e., The Chimes, Reginelli's, Walk-Ons, Serano's)
3. Plan to go out Friday night in a few different locations around town. Start off near the "Perkins Overpass" area at Ivars, George's or Chelsea's. These are great eat places as well.
4. Venture back toward The Chimes, Serano's later in the evening if you want to see more of the youth crowd.
5. Wrap up Friday night in downtown. Several cool bars within a block of Hilton; all have live music on weekend (i.e., Happy's Irish Pub, Roux House, Boudreaux's and Thibodeaux's). Stumble to hotel.
6. Gameday: take shuttle to LSU; if shuttle does not begin to run at least 4-5 hrs prior to kickoff, buy a shuttle ticket for 1 way after the game and take a cab to campus.
7. Visit campus bars and/or the various tailgating. Try to see it all.
8. Game. 'Nuff said.
9. Sunday morning: eat breakfast at Louie's on State Street, around the corner from The Chimes and Serano's.

On Gameday Tailgating
1.Don't wear any other school colors but LSU.
2.Have a thick skin, some people can be ruthless assholes (minority) the others just like to joke and have a good time (majority).
3. Don't be too modest, If someone offers you company, join them, if they offer food, beer, drinks take them up on it. (some seem to get offended if you don't).
4. Make lots of noise at the game (the team feeds off of this, then the crowd feeds off of the team's performance, then the team feeds even more....and so on).
5. Stay the whole game
6. Have a Great Time.

feel free to email me if you have any specific questions. I am a student with a job that requires me to do absolutely nothing most days, so I would be happy to pass the time by answering any questions that you might have. Most questions can and will be answered on this thread, but if you need more specific info (parking, eating, place to stay, places to tailgate, things to see, etc) and would like to ask me via email please feel free.

If you want to be invited more to tailgate with the natives, I would say this is wrong advice. Wear "certain" other teams' T-shirt or jersey and people will welcome you with open arms. Safe bets are:
1. University of Washington (after last week's defeat of USC)
2. Utah (for beating Bama senseless in Sugar Bowl)
3. Any team that beats USC, Bama, Texas or Oklahoma between now and your trip.

Offer to light up a cigar for any Auburn fan you see...don't worry, they'll get it.

This, except save time one morning to go to Coffee Call on College Dr. (deceptive name as the place isn't all that close to campus). Order the beignets and cafe au lait.

IS STILL A NIGHT GAME if possible.
