If MSU were any good, do you think more people would care that the NCAA allows them to ring those annoying arse cowbells during a game?

The fight song is "Hail Dear Ole State." And yes SEC fans would start whining like little girls if we were string a couple winning seasons together.

A lot of people still carry cowbells into the stadium, however it's not like it was a decade ago.

It's annoying as hell watching on tv. I can't imagine being in the middle of it.

I wish someone would enforce it. It's stupid

i love the various traditions in college football but others don't interfere with the game. the TV thing sucks but (other than this week) i only have to deal with that for half a quarter before i switch over to a closer game

it's almost as annoying as trying to watch a soccer game when both teams' fans are constantly buzzing away with stadium horns. Miss State fans are America's version of these guys

If they have the rule against "artificial nosiemakers", then it should be enforced for everyone. If they are not going to enforce it equally, then kill it or change it.

The only reason State has gotten away with it for so long is that they haven't been winning. If they ever do start winning consistently, then the other schools will complain.

I know TDR isn't exactly popular here, but they had an article about the cowbells yesterday: Moo State's cowbells

MSU students on how they get the bells in:
quote:

The restrictions prohibit the presence of cowbells at Davis Wade during SEC games, but that hardly helps to stop the ringing.

Ammon said stadium security is “don’t ask, don’t tell” if cowbells aren’t in plain view, while

Landry said students have their own methods.

“Guards will search your purse, and if they see or hear one they confiscate it,” Landry said. “So girls stuff their cowbells with napkins or tissues and hide it on the bottom of their purse, and guys put it in their back pocket.”

Sounds like Moo State needs to beef up their security measures, they could call LSU for help on that.

And a gem that deserves a read just so you can laugh:

quote:

“You’ve got a handle, a piece of metal with a ball in it and you ring it when something good happens,” said Justin Ammon, sports editor of the Reflector, Mississippi State’s student newspaper.

Goodness, I'm not looking forward to that crap Saturday.

Although they are annoying, they seem to make great weapons. They also make a pretty sweet sound when a drunk state fan hits somebody in the head with one.

if everyone brought in noisemakers to lsu or any stadium for that matter they couldnt do anything about it...stop bitching just cuz its a tradition they have and no one else does, if it was just one guy doing it there they could stop him but when 60k people have one theres nothing you can do about it

would never work as far as the student section goes, not the way they've become Nazi-esque ...

So, let's abolish the rule, it doesn't work so let's allow everyone to do it, hell, why stop there let's abolish all these silly rules because one team can't follow them. It's an annoying sound, we bitch about stupid crap on here, of course, but that sound is worthy of bitching.

When cowbells are outlawed, only outlaws will have cowbells.

The irony of an LSU fan lecturing a State fan over fan conduct at a football game is just too delicious.
