anyone going?

I think Catholic's offensive strength (Zack Oliver throwing the ball downfield) plays directly into STM's weakness. STM has a very good running game but they don't have much of a passing game so CHSBR should load up the LOS and shut down the STM run game.
STM has won 2 in a row against CHSBR but I have a feeling tonight's game will be different.
CHS 21
STM 14

CHS BR has layed ZERO competition so far this year. Not sure if STM has or not.
So for that reason...I am not jumping on the "CHS is back" bandwagon just yet. Tonights game will tell a whole lot about how good their team really is this year, a year after missing the playoffs for the first time in like 20 years.
We'll see if Oliver is as good of a QB with an actual defense in front of him to play against.

STM dominated Sulphur for 2.5 quarters then had two huge downfield passing plays go for TDs in the 3rd qtr that broke their back. Then STM had to pass down 24-14 and they weren't able to do it
STM dismantled zachary last week

I've read everything and people have basically hit it on the head. Catholic really hasn't played anyone yet, but STM is susceptible in the passing game, where Catholic can be dangerous.
Should be a really close game. I say Catholic gets this one 19-14.

two years ago and last year CHSBR had Lewis and Oliver at QB but their WRs were horrific. If the WRs have gotten better then CHS could have success in the passing game.
STM gave up two big passing plays against Sulphur but on both plays their All District Safety (and Tulane commit) Cameron Dejean was out of the game with leg cramps and an untested Soph was back there.
The biggest problem STM has had with pass defense is actually their DEs. Usually STM has quality DEs that can rush the passer but this season the DTs are huge but the DEs are not. So multiple times STM got to McCain of Sulphur but they couldn't bring him down. This could be a problem tonight, unless CHSBR's receivers still suck.
STM has a very good OL for the running game and that is what their game plan will be. Run run run and keep Oliver off the field.

Posted on 9/18/09 at 11:14 am to supatigah

may not be good for CHS on a wet track

Lewis was 2yrs ago and I think Oliver was the QB last year against STM as a soph
last year was bad for catholic, was right after the hurricane and they hadn't practiced for a week and a half
