Best software???

what is the best software for working with pictures, such as onces i have taking with my DSLR. I want work on colors, spec effects, cropping, etc.

Photoshop, and if you know what your doing, gimp isn't too bad. The keywords are "too bad".

Meh, everyone has different tastes. I only edit images at LSU where I get to use Photoshop for free. I'm still a novice who has to look things up, but Photoshop has really worked well for me. Gimp is nice, but doesn't have the ease of use that photoshop has for me.
