1. Washington last year was a horrible blown call away from beating a top 20 BYU team at home in the first game of the season. At least we had the game in control and didnt have to win on some bs call. For all we know, UW may end up being pretty good this year.

2. In 2005, in Pelini's first game, the defense looked worse than they did tonight. Sometimes, especially for college kids, it takes a game or 2 to adjust to the new schems and game plan.... Tackling needs to get better though.

3. For a first game of the year, I was VERY impressed with the low amount of penalties and turnovers, especially in a somewhat hostile atmosphere on the road.

4. Tolliver = enough said

5. Secondary, other than that one bomb that was a perfect throw and catch, did VERY well on defending passes that were more than 10 yards...and Locker is probably the 3rd best qb we are going to face all year.

I expect the playbook to open up against Vandy and I look for a much better defensive effort in game 2. It was one of the ugliest games I've seen us play, but it was nowhere near Oklahaoma, or Ohio State ugly. Luckily were under the radar, so hopefully most people won't notice our stuggles too much.

Another positive: another fine game by Jefferson. Great performance and leadership in a season opener road game. My only concern, voiced by many others here, is that he risks his life with some of his runs. Dude's gonna have to learn how to slide if he wants to avoid serious injury.

Yes, it reminded me of Pelini's first game at Arizona State... the defense was horrible in that game, but they got better.

JJ decision making was right on time. That is one huge positive.

I agree. I think he would have had an even better game (like 150 more yards passing and a td or 2 more) if the playbook would have been open up more. WE needed to get more plays, both running and passing, to the outside instead of down the middle IMO.

I think Jefferson will be one of the top QB's in the league before the years is over. Didn't realize he was 6'5" and ran run like that.

Kick-off and punt coverage were very good and it was good to see #34 (Ridley) back on the field

i could see him being 4th behind teebow, snaed, and mcelroy. Luckily we'll probably have him 2 more years after this one.

I knew I was forgetting something. That was one of the best punt/kickoff coverage games Ive seen us do in awhile.

IF he survives the monster hits he's gonna absorb with his running. Like I said, he's gotta learn to slide or something else to avoid some of the hits he took last night. But it's encouraging as hell that he follows his outstanding Chick Fil-A game with another fine performance in the season opener.

Patrick Peterson is a beast..I thought there was several #7s on the field last night. Extremely physical.

Locker had to much time, our D couldn't get to him, need to improve that. When they got to the outside they were running free. Toliver looked as good as Lafell, nice. The interference call
against us, in the endzone was total BS.
T Bob was money. On to next week.
Big W in our column.
