Today's article ranks Miles as fourth best coach in SEC behind C.U.M., Saban and Mark Richt.

Mark Richt? What other coach year in and out does less with more than Richt? How many NC's does he have? LINK

GG is, as sad as it is, is trying to be like Finedouche. He's just being inflamatory on purpose and really isn't being credible most of the time.

I wouldn't have a problem with Miles at 3, as a homer I might put him in second or at least a tie for second.

Hard to argue with the ranking ...Richt at 3 might be questionable.. Maybe Miles should be ahead...but Richt has won 3 straight over Miles!

So...What is wrong with 4th if we are truly being objective about each coach and their abilities.. If Miles wins 10 games this year... I put him at 3...he wins more than that... Maybe up to 2

I would say he is the third best coach behind Meyer and Saban.

And he would be about right... #4 is actually pretty high for Miles.. Generally most columist rank him 5th or 6th.

Fourth isn't bad in a league considered to have the best collection of coaches in college football, however, Miles being behind Richt is a joke.

Miles edges him out for #3 but it's not like it's this terrible ranking.. Meyer and Saban are both great coaches.

Richt ahead of Miles was done purposely by GG, just to get under tiger fans skin.

Actually it's pretty easy to argue with the rankings, the only stupid thing Les did was the whole co-dc's fiasco, other than that alot has been beyond his control.

GG's columns are seething with self-hatred, and a desperate, Early Doucet-like attempt to propel himself above the intelligence of his readers (who only read him because he writes about LSU in the first place:

But he's right about this:

5. HOUSTON NUTT, OLE MISS — Ever since Ole Miss started getting ranked high going into the 2009 season, Baton Rouge radio has exploded with discussion of how Nutt does not do well as a favorite. This is wishful thinking. It is also media myth as ridiculous as stories about President Obama not being a U.S. citizen.

Quantcast

Only once in Nutt's 11-year SEC career has he bombed as a favorite. In 1999, Arkansas was picked by the media to win the West, and he finished tied for third with a 7-4 and 4-4 record. He has overachieved many more times. In his first season at Arkansas in 1998, the Hogs were picked sixth in the West and tied for first. In 2002, Arkansas was picked fifth and finished first. In 2008, Ole Miss was picked fifth and finished second. Over that span, bigger underachievers were at LSU. The Tigers were picked to win the 2002 West title but finished third under Saban himself, and the 2008 Tigers were picked sixth in the nation and second in the West but finished 8-5 and 3-5 for third.

This myth about Nutt is on the same level as people saying Tim Tebow was going to have problems as the starting qb.
