Do you know how many strains of the "regular flu" there are? There is no such thing as the regular flu. There are several different types of influenza A. Not to mention influenzas B&C. We have a new different flu to fight every year. This is just a bullshite scare tactic

And the first part of your post was going so well as far as accuracy goes...

The seasonal strains of flu you described are usually descendants of last years flu, with minor changes..but still similar enough to have at least some immune response ready to go.

In this strain of swine flu, pretty much the entire virus has never infected a human until now. So NO ONE has an immune response to it. This is very important...even if you assume mortality/hospitalization rates the same as the "regular flu," the sheer number of people infected if there is no vaccination would overwhelm the health care system.

Going back to the topic however, I wouldn't be surpised that all it will take is for them to connect an outbreak to a football game (NFL or college), and the NCAA will get swept by with the hyseria and cancel games.
