Talked to Pep last night, has his hand in a cast, said he broke it and has to wear the cast for about three weeks. Sat out of scrimmage yesterday. Some defensive linemen can play with these type of injuries so it will be interesting to see how the coaches pursue this. If I had to guess, I would not expect him to start against Washington.

he will play but how effective will he be, I think we will get a good look at Sam Montgomry

why didn't you ask him if he would be ready to go for Wash? and who would start if he couldn't? and what was wrong with Cutrera? and how was Randle doing? and if Shep is the real deal? etc., etc., etc.?

that opens up more snaps for Edwards, Clement, and Aghayere, who were all probably going to get significant time anyway. I wonder which of the true freshman will benefit from this also.

Since he's gotta wear the cast for 3-4 weeks, and the first game is in 2 weeks, then YES he will still be in the cast

If I had to guess Id say there is no point is trying to make him play vs Wash or Vandy or ULL for that matter.

If the cast is off by ULL allow him to get back into the swing of things in moderation.

Otherwise, slowly bring him back during Miss St and more vs UGA.

bummer.. big bummer. But from what I hear, Lavar Edwards is a hoss and between him and Agheyere and Alem and others - should be fine during that stretch

Brockers will benefit from this. Hes been tearing it up in practices/scrimmages.

I figured it was more than just a "nick" when Miles said it was "intermediary" and not minor ..he always sloughs it off non-chalantly to the media if it is a minor injury or even a little worse than minor

But he NEVER says a guy has a "bad" or "serious/significant" injury unless the guy is out for the season ..if there is a way a guy can come back he always treats it like it's intermediate or no big deal

I had a feeling Pep hurt his hand pretty bad.. the additional indicator was how Miles raved about a true frosh at SDE and said there was no way he wouldn't play (Brockers) ..this was a sign to me Miles knows how thins he is with experienced and healthy SDEs

I hope Chancey steps up big

you wouldn't have Sam on the strong side opposite of Alem

Brockers is the frosh who benefits...Chancey looks like the starter at Washington to me

Knowing miles I wouldn't be surprised to see cutrera in a full body cast.

I almost would rather he didn't ...he was "solid" with the cast... not sure how great he would be - especially at tackling and using his hands like DLs must do - with a cast and being scared of his hand

I say we try Chancey and hope he hasn't lost his burst like it appears he has... but Chancey is still a pretty strong dude

From what I've heard, Brockers is could make a jump over Clement and Aghayere. Its more about Brockers quick development, than being thin at DE IMO.

I would expect Edwards to get the nod instead of Chancey. Sounds like too many people on here just going off of recruiting hype.

I think it's more that Edwards is Alem's backup and Aghayere is Pep's backup. Edwards is the quicker of the two, and they may not want both him and Alem on the field at the same time unless it is a passing situation.

Exactly...Edwards starts, and we could see Brockers come in to the 2-deep at DE.

never had a bad gut feeling about his injury ..he'll play

I've been a closet lover of his injury this past week (not that I like kids injured) because I think our LBs are better when its Riley/Shep in the middle and Harry Coleman on the field - and Cutrera riding the pine
