Im mainly concerned with the fees associated with trading. I dont want to be nickel and dimed for making trades and As for tools as long as the site offers something to allow me to sell off at a certain $ amount

Scottrade $7 flat rate for all stock trades and $17 for mutual funds. I know some places offer X amount of free trades per month if your initial deposit is $25,000+

I've had Scottrade for 5+ years and have been very satisfied.....Anytime I've had a problem, I've call the branch office and gotten an immediate answer.

Ditto. They have great customer service. They also have a BR branch on Blubonnet/Jefferson which is very convenient.

i use scottrade. if you trade penny stocks, it will be a higher fee. i like everything but the one gripe i have is the lack of mobile streaming quotes

I'll fifth (or whatever) scottrade if all you want is low fees.

Their tools blow though. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably go with ThinkOrSwim. But I'm worried about them since they just got bought by Ameritrade.

What advantage did IB have over scottrade?

Much lower commissions. Also you can watch current rolling spreads on many stocks at once and trade from the same screen. Also better check Scottrades quotes on bonds and CD's. I found I could do better.
