They should've made it backwards compatible for PS2 games, ala the original 60 gb.

Sony has made some shitty decisions this gen...

I tend to like the reflective surface of the PS3 Phat more than this one. Still, the $299 price point puts it at a much better value than the 360. It will be interesting to see what Microsoft does with this.

I would disagree, especially after comparing the merits of each system's game library and installation base. Blu-Ray just isn't as compelling as Sony thought it was going to be.

DVD was a win for the PS2 over the Dreamcast, but there just isn't that same excitement over HD disc media.

If 360 goes down, I will buy one. There are some games I want to play, I just don't think it's worth it right now.

Blue Ray was a deciding factor for me when I purchased my PS3 a couple of years ago. It's a nice feature IMO.

It's not a deciding factor for most people.

360 doesn't have built in Wifi, that's 100 bucks.

Wired gaming works better anyways, so this isn't a problem really. One question is why do Japanese people always want to make everything so small. I don't have a PS3 myself, but I did like how the big one looked compared to this one.

It isn't conceivable for everyone to play wired up. In my case the router is in the other room.

The BR + Wifi included will be a deciding factor for me. I have a 46" 1080p tv and have been waiting for a decent player to come out. Being sub 300$ will be a PERFECT Christmas present to myself..

This may be true, but it has never served as a problem to me. You also get a better online service with xbox live.

Actually, I enjoy the quality and awesomeness of Blu-Ray, however I do agree that the boom wasn't as huge as DVD. If they weren't so damn expensive, people would bite the bait more, but until then, the demand isn't as high as everyone expected.
