Just didn't like the story at all and was curious as to why the aliens would trade superpowered weapons for fricking cat food when instead they could hold up a 7-11.

I thought it was dumb that the aliens had a bunch of awesome weapons yet they allowed themselves to be herded like cattle.

I didn't like the pseudo documentary style either.

Film couldn't decide what it would be.

The actuality-video threat of The Blair Witch Project, or unstoppable violence like ID4 plusS pielberg’s otherworldly benevolence:fa ctitiousness, killing and cosmic agape.

This is how cinema gets turned to trash. Just throw everything in a pot and hope something sticks.

There is also the comic book type logic that fuel for a ship somehow possesses the ability to genetically morph a human into an Alien.

Not to mention that the horrible plot which makes no sense in the film and is an insult to South Africa's history of Apartheid. The alien's, possessors of great weapons and technology humans can't even operate, refuse to stand up for themselves and thus ignoring the issues of self-determination that were prevalent in South Afria like at the Soweto's riots

I guess I am more pissed that people are taking this movie for some type of deep, meaningful movie with a social message, when in reality it is just a another Hollywood popcorn flick

it was boring. it was all special effects, with no truly interesting story.

may as well have been GI Joe.

First. Why did they ever leave the mother ship?

I think a key error was stating that they could not get the liquid from human technology. If that is true then they never actually needed to leave the mothership. So why leave?

They appeared to be sick on the ship, yet the Big Alien said if they got back to the ship, they could be healed. Once again, why leave the ship?

I found the movie interesting while a bit difficult to understand at times with the accents.

I don't quite understand the semi-documentary style. I think that failed a bit.

Funny how much I was pulling for the aliens. I can't wait for them to come back and open a can of whupass on us.

The only thing that really bugged me about the movie was it was entirely shot with hand held cameras for the most part. That's fine for a tv show but not a motion picture.

Well, even with shaky cam, at least they did not do shaky cam "Up Real Close" during fights like so many hack directors love to do these days.

also, though the story was too dull to matter - some finer points is that the style/mood of the film was lacking. The setting sucked bad. The music wasnt good.

Some directors can take pretty much any idea and make it at least interesting by creating a certain mood to the movie via things like colors, lighting, music, setting, etc.

I like Peter Jackson but this movie just was "empty" to me.

also - i thought aliens looked sort of silly. almost comedicaly silly.

i thought they said in the beiginning that when the humans went up there they found only workers that were about to die from malnutrition, and the people took them down and put them in camps,

it seems only three were smart the main prawn, his son and his friend that got killed

The ones on this ship were the worker aliens. They were
the bottom of the alien foodchain. That's why they behaved
the way they did.

The one higher alien operates the weapons and the ship at
the end.

If you mix Alien Nation with Starship Troopers you have District 9.

They were out of food.

In addition the aliens who were left except the main character's friend were the worker class. The fry cooks of their race if you will. They don't have the brains/drive to organize resistance.

Cat Food had some psychological effect on them. Much like Cat Nip does on cats(Which why Cat Food in particular was chosen I assume)

bullshite.

You can say that story didn't interest you and that's fine, but to compare it to retardo all explosions all the time michael bay-esque cinema is a blatant flasehood.
