Just checked lsusports.net. Rumors appear to be true that he is transferring.

Either way, best of luck to the kid. I can't imagine what he's been through.

Not to be insensitive or anything, but what does that do to the DL depth?

I'm going to be pissed if he is at Bama. I feel bad for him don't get me wrong. But what the frick is up with letting players go to BAMA of all places?

Tactically unsound, yes.

Another Alabama bust, with Phelon.

Someone had to go in order to get all the inc recruits and he appears to be the one. Sucks what happened to his mom but its pretty obvious he wasn't cracking the starting job anytime soon, if ever.

Doesn't put a dent in the 2 deep IMO. He just got moved from DE to DT in the spring and he was not ready to play looking at the spring game. He would of been behind Alexander, Woods, Nevis and Hicks at least IMO.

It is not confirmed he is going to Tuscaloosa.

Well, its obvious LSU was trying to find a groove in this guy. First they tried him at DE, then DT. I never really heard much from Corley when he was here. On the other hand, you hear how Edwards/Nevis has been great in practices and that pretty much means a younger guy was probably passing him up. He was going to have a hard time cracking the rotation with Woods/Nevis/Alexander/Edwards(possibly). Doesn't help LSU had a pretty big inc d-line class too.

I don't think it affects the depth too much this year bc he wasn't ready to play yet from what I saw in the spring. But it could affect us in 2010 and especially 2011 after Nevis/Pep graduate and Corley would have been our only Senior defensive linemen.

He obviously wasn't one of the top 3 DTs this year, and Edwards was also way ahead of him from what I saw.

Is Edwards going to be a DT? Seems like he'd be a perfect fit at DE with Levingston/Aghayere. They need some depth/help there. Wasn't Edwards a former TE?

Corley is probably a better fit at end in a 3-4 than either a DT or DE in a 4-3.

Wished things had worked our for him.

My mom taught Slidell Corley and Phelon Jones in middle school at St.Pauls then they both transfered to Mcgill and the both signed with LSU I expect him to go to Bama with Phelon or come home to South Alabama, my mom is pretty good friends with his dad so im going to get her to try to find out what is going on I wish them both the best of luck they are great kids...

IMO Edwards will play whichever position they think is the bigger need, but that's just a guess on my part. He played DT in the Spring game and looked very good. I think he's a better fit inside for sure, but he may be needed more outside.

I wouldn't be surprised if they play one of Edwards/Hicks at DE, and the other one at DT. I could see either one playing either position. I'd personally lean to Edwards at DT and Hicks at DE, but that's a total guess on my part.

Also, and I was starting to think this even before Corley transferred, but it seems like Davenport won't be redshirting this year. He was already listed co-2nd team DT with Corley in the Media guide.
