Former LSU DT Marlon Favorite got a break yesterday at Panthers camp when the projected starter, Maake Kemoeatu, tore his Achilles tendon while jogging in warmups.

The coaches put Favorite with the first team ahead of veteran Nick Hayden and 3rd round pick Corvey Irvin.

Hope it works out for him since he was an undrafted free agent.

If Marlon Favorite is a starter for the Panthers, I like the Saints chances of running up the middle this year against them! The dude was a BUST!!!

I wouldn't classify him as a bust. Also, not every recruit becomes a college star. If you're an LSU fan, you're a bust.

Marlon Favorite was a bust whether you want to agree or not...as a Saints fan I am glad he is on the Panthers.

How was he a bust? He played a lot the past few years, even started a few games.

He contributed to the team. Had 28 tackles our championship season including a pretty good game against Florida which included 4 tackles. I could go on but I don't think you understand that football is a team sport and not everyone is Glenn Dorsey.

You are an idiot. Are there any other STARTERS on the team that you want to trash? You don't know the meaning of the term "bust". I'm embarrassed that you call yourself an LSU fan.

He was a bust...just because he played some doesnt make him good...and to come in so highly ranked and to struggle just to see the field...BUST!!!

He is a bust but may start for an NFL team??? I am not sure I follow that logic.

Ryan Leaf started a few games and probably threw a few touchdowns...guess he wasn't a bust either...

Leaf wasn't a bust in college though, he was a bust in the NFL. You are claiming that Favorite was a bust in college while he is getting a chance to start in the NFL.

I am saying that just like Leaf was highly regarded going to the NFL, Favorite was highly regarded going to college...and neither came close to living up the hype!

I guess John Fox, who coached a team to a Super Bowl, knows more about this than you.

Recruiting sites and experts had Favorite's listed height as 3 inches too tall, and his 40 time .3 seconds below actual, whereas Glenn Dorsey's measurables were not embellished one bit. (Unusual for a recruit..)

Marlon was not a bust, but I must agree that I like him starting for Carolina, as a Saints fan. The guy is barely 6 foot, he is a true nose tackle type guy, but he could use some extra size and weight. Pierre might even be able to run him over, sorry Marlon...
