According to the Texas rankings Muncie is very close to 4-star status

muncie actually running a 4.49 fourty?
Posted on 7/30/09 at 6:12 pm to thunderbird1100
Muncie got a pretty good bump since the last rankings right?
His ranking is somewhat of a mystery--I've seen him as a top 100 prospect on some sites and then a 3 star on others.
I think he will make a 4 star but out of the top 250 by the end of the year.

I just clicked the link...this list is pretty meaningless.
Rivals just takes their rankings and compiles all the TX prospects (they do it for every state) into this list. Puts them in the exact order they have them ranked in the rivals 250.
If you want to find a more legit list, then look for the rankings that the UT site managers make. Similar to what Scike does, but actually credible.

The rankings are pretty fair. I just doubt that there are 3 OTs in the state with better potential than Evan Washington.

I thought it was pretty clear when I said "Rivals" Texas Top 100. that is always sorted by their national rankings. I prefer it over orangebloods or other team state rankings because it takes more bias out of things.
It's just an easy way to see how the state stacks up without going down the 250 and especially going through each 3-star.

The 3 stars is where there is a little clarification, which is where having Muncie that high is encouraging.
I didn't mean for that to come off as me 'attacking' you or anything. Thanks for the post

Rankings wise this could turn into a surprise monster class if guys like Muncie get to 4-stars and Blackmon also gets 4.

If guys get bumps like they very well could, then this class could be a sleeping monster.

I don't need any 5* guys this year. I'll take 25 four star guys.

Don't think Blackmon would.. but Muncie might

Blackmon is still so much of an unknown to me. Plays in a small town on a bad team but dominated camp.

Lynx, I'm not with you lately
Why would Rivals rank Player A from Texas ahead of Player B from Texas in the 250, and then have Player B ahead of Player A in the state rankings. That would be a contradiction IMO.
I don't think I'm following you...

I think he means that the list he is referring to is done by 1 or 2 people where as the NATIONAL list is more of a composite voting. I could be wrong though.

There are 2 Texas lists. 1 done by Orangebloods which is the opinion of 1 or 2 guys who write for Texas. The other is the one I posted which simply the rivals national rankings of all the players.

The state ranking that Rivals puts out is just a smaller composite of their overall national rankings they publish.
Every time the "rivals state rankings" come out, people act like it is a new list, when the information (for all the top guys...) has been available with every rankings update.
The OB guys who follow TX closer than anyone, however, their list is completely separate from the State rankings the national guys at Rivals has. IMO, the OB state rankings reflect new information/a new list.
That make anymore sense?

It's a lot more than that. Anyone, meaning the majority, not in the Top 250 has to be ordered. Position rankings help, but somebody has to make a decision across positions.

Anyone not ranked in the top 250 will then be ranked according to their 5.8, 5.7, 5.6, etc. designation.
There is some deciding amongst these sub groups, but as far as how much it matters to "LSU recruiting" it is typically minimal. We rarely take lower ranked guys out of TX.
