See I dunno if I want Peterson returning kicks, he is too valuable as a CB.
I would love for Trindon to step up and become a solid returner along with Keiland.
I do not know if it happens though, Les will probably try out a few guy early against Washington to see how they react.

What's Chavis' blitz package like?
Posted on 7/27/09 at 12:51 am to Rocket
I am not familar with all of Chavis defensive schemes, I mean truthfully I only watched Tennessee when they played LSU or if they were early game on CBS.
I just hope he uses the blitz more than we have in previous seasons and attacks to QB.

Chavis likes to blitz on 1st down from the Tennessee games I watched on replays and last year......he doesn't like teams to be successful on 1st down.....no defensive coach does but it seems he is his most agressive on this down.
On 3rd downs and long I did see a tendency for him to rush less in attempts to create more turnovers hence the tennessee fans calling him 3rd and Chavis....

Yes our best cover corner returning kicks...
When there are at least 10 other options on the team. Makes sense huh?

quote:I would be very interested to read your purely technical football explanaition of exactly how Jarrett Lee managed to prevent all 11 players in LSU jerseys from tackling the intercepter on all 7 of those plays. Obviously, unless you are flat out lying, Jarrett Lee was solely responsible for both the interception and the return, so did he pick the defensive player up and carry him on his back? Or did he simply knock out the other 10 offensive players?
And JL's 16 interceptions and 7 pick sixes had nothing to do with it!
Only an absolute idiot would assume that Jarrett Lee was the one sole factor directly responsible for every aspect of those 7 INTs returned for TDs. If you can find me a QB coach or head coach above the high school level that will confirm that they regularly consider Interceptions returned for TDs -- seperately from Interceptions thrown -- as a significant statistic for measuring QBs, I'll give you $10. I make that offer because I am so confident that no one stupid enough to think like that could ever be successful enough in coaching to make it to the college level as a QB coach or head coach.
Jarrett Lee's season sucked basically because he threw 16 INTs. The fact that 7 were returned for TDs was a fluke that had almost zero to do with his participation. Refreshingly, seeing so many of the people anxious to bash and berate a young man working his arse off to contribute to a team they claim to support use the absurd "logic" that somehow those 7 INTs were returned for TDs because of the way Lee threw them (with extra "tackle-breaking" rotation, I guess ) confirms my suspicion that people who bitch like that really just don't know shite about football anyway.
You may now proceed to irrationally mock me for defending Lee despite my specific assertion that his season sucked. I expect that your obsessive hatred for Jarrett Lee will easily be enough to suppress your powers of reading comprehension.

quote:Well, when people consistently make the bizarre assertion that whether or not an interception is returned for a TD is a direct reflection of the QB's ability, it does tend to suggest an irrational negativity towards that QB.
Then why do you obsessively start thread after thread and then personally attack everyone and anyone who so much as says that JJ should be the starter as a JL basher?

We heard this same ploy when JR and MF was on campus. We all knew who the man was.

Woodson returned 4 kicks in his college career.

why didn't he play in the bowl game?
I mean, since JJ struggled so badly in the second half...

who was the last LSU punt returner to be injured?

I think JJ will be a player. But as of now, Lee is the only QB on the roster to win on the road in the SEC and the only one who has led the team to a come from behind win.
