I have a Wii, but havent upgraded my other system. What should I get and why? FYI, the blue ray isnt a sell point since I have one

If bluray is not a selling point, get a 360.

They both will be around until the next gen. it's not like MS or Sony is going to suddenly quit making games tomorrow.

this is true... I just didn't know if one would be outdated before the other

PS3 is the way to go. Free online, better exclusive games, way more reliable hardware, quieter system. PS3 will be better in the long run. Look at how Microsoft dropped Xbox after Xbox 360 came out but the PS2 is still running strong. I've had 2 friends 360's break on the same day about a month and a half ago from the same type of error the E-74 error. And 1 of those friends ordered a 360 off of ebay about 3 weeks ago and it only lasted him a week and it got the RROD. Supposedly Microsoft has put new chips in the the new 360's that prevent it from getting the RROD but I know thats a bunch of bullcrap.

Purely your opinion.

Was true before not so much now.

huh ? I don't notice my 360 running.

Pffft... He ordered from Ebay, the thing was probably used.

I remember people saying when they released the falcon chip xbox 360's that the falcon chip cured the RROD but that turned out wrong. So no I don't believe this new "Jasper" chip has cured the RROD.

I don't notice any difference. You or whoevers PS3 you play on must have a sorry connection cause when I play 360 over at my buddies house I can't tell a difference. And plus we PS3 owners get dedicated servers on some of our games and you 360 owners pay and only get P2P servers. Sorry xbox live isn't worth the money IMO.

Yes it's my opinion but it's been proven that PS3 games are the best rated in this gen of consoles. Here's a link to prove it.

You can definitely tell a difference. Click the link and you'll know what im talking about.
PS3 runs quieter

Facts speak for themselves, but I know from experience because I have both systems and the PS3 is a better system. My Xbox 360 is so loud compared to my PS3.

Absolutely NO difference in internet unless you are using Dial-up, in that case don't bother buying a gaming system for online use.

You mean you prefer the PS3. It is still your opinion.
I have both and the 360 is the better system.
See ? Neither of those statements is fact. They are our opinions.

Gameplay wise they are equal, but I much rather the 360 interface and the overall online experience of the 360

No,lol, it runs much better and is quiet compared to it's counterpart. These are not opinions, it's fact. For some reason you are biased and I have no idea why. You mean to tell me you think the Xbox is not as loud. You have to be joking, anyone who has had both of these systems will tell you this. Just watch any video on youtube. Maybe you have some super secret top notch prototype Xbox that admits no sound. Must be why you can't hear it act like a jet engine

XBOX:
Pros:
Netflix
more games, supposedly better FPS (I wouldn't know)
slightly better online? (or so I've heard, though NCAA works fine on my PS3. MLB the Show was kind of skipping but I only tried it once. But that game is maybe the best game I've played.)
may come with headset, not sure though
Cons:
$100 for wirelss adapter (otherwise ethernet cord)
$50/year for online
I've heard people have had trouble with their 360's but I don't know if Microsoft has fixed that or not.
red ring of death
PS3:
Pros:
built-in Wifi
free online
DVD player (you can always use another DVD player, put one in your room and one in living room)
I think most people that have had both consoles say get the PS3
Cons:
less games (sports games like NCAA and others are really all I need)
online not as good as XBOX? whatever, still good though
I was making this same decision a few days ago. I chose PS3, went to Walmart and got one for 399, came with MLB the Show 09 and Quantum of Solace DVD. Great deal. I also went with the PS3 even though I don't have a 1080p TV for room at school. I don't regret my choice

So some of you wouldn't get a system because it is a little louder than the other? Ridiculous.
As far as online, I've heard the 360 online is better (never played ps3 online). I do know that most people who play online seriously tend to like the 360 online better. Also, it looks to me that 360 gives more perks to their online (netflix and other random things like this).
Exclusives (this is off the top of my head)
xbox
Halo series
Gears of War series
Forza Motorsport series
Project Gotham Racing series
Fable series
Mass Effect series
Left 4 Dead series
There are others but I can't remember
ps3
Little Big Planet
Metal Gear series (until soon, have a game coming out for 360 I think)
God of War series
Uncharted series
Resistance series
Jak and Daxter series
Ratchet and Clank series
Again, there are others, but I forget
I personally have a 360 and most of my friends prefer it, but some of my friends have their ps3. If you like FPS and/or like to play online, I'd get a 360. Otherwise get a ps3.

WTF does this even mean ? Both machines do what they are supposed to do.
quote:
You mean to tell me you think the Xbox is not as loud.
Sure, if I turn everything off and just listen to the two machines, the 360 is louder, but that is not how they are used.
When I am using them, I don't notice the sound of either machine running.

I own both and I prefer the 360. Hardly ever touch my PS3. It's not bias, it's my opinion.

I disagree. I'd say people with both are split. Half like the ps3 and half like 360 better.

If your roommates are waking up in the middle of the night from the sound of a 360, they must never go to sleep. I mean, it can be loud, but not that loud. Are you in the same room with them?
