I read in the Advocate this morning that McNeese is to be added to our football schedule in the future. Exactly how does that further the LSU football program? There will be zero interest in a game that LSU could win by eight touchdowns and still not get any credit for it. This game will no doubt be a bit hit in McNeese circles but what does that have to do with LSU? If I were a season ticket holder I would be livid. Frankly, such a game would be embarrassing for the program.

Well, the LSU football schedule has contained a FCS team more times than not for a good while now. I can understand not wanting to play a FCS team, but if we are, and we have a number of times, why not play one from our own state?

It's been my experience that at least McNeese fans would be gratetful for the chance to play LSU and bank the check without coming up with horror stories of their treatment at the hands of the terrible LSU fans.

So, I say IF we are going to play FCS teams, we dang well should send the money to the Cowboys to help them compete for their own National Title.

The last time McNeese played ULL, which was last year or the year before, McNeese won and we play ULL again this year. ULL, now thats a waist of time. That's what this season ticket holders is pissed about. One very good thing about playing ULL or McNeese is the $$ stay in the state, and both can use the money.

I don't think we should be playing FCS teams period. Not everyone does you know. And, again, nothing against McNeese but as an LSU fan, I have no interest in furthering the cause of another school's football program.

Depends how far you go back, this decade = 5 in 9 years we've played one, but last decade we only played 1 in 10 years and that 1 team we did play turned IA the very next season (Arkansas State).

I think most people are upset they are going out of their way to schedule a IAA team instead of using it as a last ditch possibility like it should be.

If they must schedule these types of games, I'd rather keep the money in-state rather than playing the Citadel, Western Carolina, etc.

+1

Look at Alabama and AU- they refuse to play teams from their own state (Troy, UAB, Jacksonville State, and probably South Alabama down the road). If we are just dead set on playing FCS teams, then we certainly need to playing those from our own state. Appy State's win at Meeeeeechigan a couple of years ago seems to have worn off due to how bad Meeeeeechigan has been of late, so playing those guys really should not be on the table.

Still doesn't count as well as playing ULL.

ULL gave both Illinois (lost 20-17 and Ill was ranked) and K-State all they wanted and more on the road last season...

Exactly. It's not about which team would be more competitive. The fact is, LSU has absolutely nothing to gain by playing ANY FCS teams, in-state or otherwise. There are plenty of teams in the lower third of the BCS that we should be able to schedule without conceding a return game.
