What's The D Line looking like next year?

I know we lost a couple good guys last year ((Tyson Jackson)) Who will be most likely to be the standout D Lineman next season? and who will emerge from the younger group of linemen?..i read that we have a good bit to choose from.

pep has stood out from what ive heard

Woods finally get the chance to step up. I think everyone knows Drake Nevis and Rahim Alem will be beasts. Alexander provides quality experienced depth at DT. Corley seems like a Tyson Jackson type of player who can kick in and play DT as well as DE. Don't count out Pep Levingston making an impact as well.

I also think the "express" package should be brought back. Seemed we had good success the limited time we used it last year in obvious passing downs. I think Woods/Alexander would come out and Corley would kick in at DT to have Levingston/Alem at DE and Corley/Nevis at DT.

What about Clement? I heard he is starting to emerge as a very powerful DE. Anyone think he will get any significant playing time?

What's wrong with this thread?
It's brings cause for discussion; atleast, better than the "Where is Leon?" threads. Or how about the "Bench Jared!!!"

The DL next year is fairly young, but has a lot of talent--just unproven talent.
You have Al Wood, Charles Alexander, and Drake Nevis as your three DTs coming back from last year. I also expect for 2009 recruit Akiem Hicks to be on the two deep rotation at either DT/DE. He's 6'4" 300, so I am leaning towards DT.
The DE's should be Pep Livingston, Rahim Alem, Chase Clement, Chauncey A., and Sidell Corley. You may also have 2009 signee Sam Montgomery as a speed rusher off the end depending on how other guys perform and his development proceed.
Hope that clears it up.

Some teams could only dream to have 4 D linemen like Nevis, Pep, Wood, Alexander, Alem, Clement, and Corley. And we got all of them. its good to be loaded on the line. But I say Alem will be the sackmaster, Nevis and Alexander will get the most tackles, and Pep will be great as well.
Anybody know if Chancey Aghayere could see some time?

He should definitely see some PT. Next year should be his 'coming out party' as there is opportunity to play finally on the 2 deep.

Man our Dline is young this year. Alem is going to have a great season imo.

the Dline is going to be as effective as the '07 line, and might give the versatility of the '03 line a run...this is going to be the most agile, fast and athletic pass rush/defense formulation ever seen on the Ponderosa....
Think REAL good.....

I still want to see Sam Montgomery. Havent seen him at all. he will probably be redshirted if possible

Montgomery played only one year of high school football, so he probably needs to be redshirted.

I haven't seen Al Woods do shite. I cant believe he's a senior already.

I hope you all are all correct with this positive stuff. I remember last year at this time we were talking about the D-line being the best ever at LSU and maybe one of the best in college football in a long time. Kept seeing videos of certain players working out and such and we were all creaming our pants.
I do understand the dynamics of what went wrong last year, but I just thought I would temper the hype just a little bit.

I agree with this. There is a boat load of talent, but it is very young and inexperienced.
I think the DL will show the most weaknesses in the defense next year.
You will also have Chris Davenport, Michael Brockers, and Josh Downs coming in next year, but I am not expecting to see any of them see a ton of PT next year.
