My wife's business partner is coming in town in a couple of weeks. He's from Chicago, so we were hoping to take him somewhere nice that has good cajun food. The only places we could think of were Ernest's, Ralph & Kacoo's, and Copeland's. The latter two are chains, and I haven't been to Ralph & Kacoo's in so long, I don't even know that it's good any more.

Got any other suggestions????

Another reminder of why I don't live in Shreveport.

Columbia Cafe (Kings and Columbia) - Menu changes and has been known to serve all sorts of game birds, rabbit, and various fish. Unique atmosphere and several, several imports.

Bella Fresca (Line Ave by Superior) - Quaint place and menu changes often. Great wine selection.

Olive Street Bistro (Olive by Line Ave) - Good Italian eatery with excellent fish. Good wines.

The Vintage (inside of Hollywood Casino) - A steak and drinks sort of place...very good crab and solid steaks. Good bartenders (was 2 years ago anyway).

Ernests's (top of the hill on Market St) - Best marinated clabclaws anywhere. Good LA seafood atmosphere.

The Cub (Kings and Youree) - No, not the bar (walk into the restaurant from the bar). The Cub has the best steak in Shreveport and awesome Au'gratin potatoes. About 20 peersons is all the restaurant can hold, so get there early. Afterwards, go have a beer and a shot from Carey.

* any of the above will surely have 1-2 cajun dishes. In any event, don't let that dictate a good meal.

Superior Steakhouse, Wine Country Bistro, Olive Street Bistro, Mabry House Restaurant, Vintage Steakhouse

...For "Cajun" food, you're usually not going to find many "nice" restaurants...However out of those Ernest's, Wine Country and Superior are probably your better options for a couple cajun dishes.

There are NO good Cajun places in Shreveport. I'm a Cajun from New Iberia and have lived here for 40 years. Shreveport does NOT do Cajun. But there are many good places to eat.

L'Italiano in Bossier City is the best. Small, hole in the wall place run by real Italians who barely speak English.

Agree with no good "cajun" in S'port. I think Michael Brady at Wine Country Bistro is doing some really good food. Other "nice" restaurants to consider are Mabry House, they do really nice seafood with a Louisiana inflection and Village Grill. Also on Line avenue are Bella Fresca and 6301 Line(good duck confit) as well. Ernests would be in the mix too. For Italian, try L'Italiano in Bossier or Giuseppi's on Line Ave. If I had to narrow down to one or two I'd go with the chef's table at Mabry House or Wine Country Bistro

For Cajun food Ernest would be your best bet. I would hit up Texas Street Tavern or Superior Steak house for steak (IMO Texas Street Tavern is better)...Italian I would go to L'Italino's, though this might not be the best for a business meal.
