Apples and Oranges.
If I want to see an action film I would watch Taken and comedy I would go with Hangover.

i'm going with hangover followed closely by arrested development and taken

But on this board, it seemed that both movies were essentially proclaimed as GOAT, so I'm fricking with everyone who falls for post-viewing hyperbole.

Well, I had to leave Arrested Development out of the question because not everyone is intelligent enough to appreciate the high brow wittiness and referential humor--because no other television series or series of movies has ever relied on high brow, subtle, referential, and self-referential humor. Ever. Especially not Kevin Smith movies.

Let me guess. You like Lost too? You're sounding like the majority of Lost fans I've spoken with who automatically think you're stupid because you don't like the show. I also think AD is a great show, but not everyone's going to agree with us. It's all entertainment.

He was being sarcastic about Arrested Development.

as far as "threads being started because of it"....
I got
Taken
The Dark Knight
Hangover
so far at least. I'm sure the Hangover will catch up in the coming days/weeks.

Na. No way Hangover gets to Taken or Dark Knight thread starting levels.

i rarely see movies in the theaters so i miss some now and then. when you say taken are you talking about that movie about the old guy that goes looking for his daughter in another country?

did it get awesome reviews? i saw it and i thought it was pretty good...nothing about it struck me as exceptional though.... are people really putting it in the same category as TDK? (just curious).

pretty good reviews from the common man. Typical review goes like..."I already knew what was gonna happen from the previews but it was still fricking awesome watching him kick arse."

absolutely not for so many reasons, apples/oranges being one of them. When I used TDK in my reference it was only because TDK and Taken spawned the most threads ever on the Movie TV board. There was at least 40 for each. It's more of an inside joke for regular posters on here. that's all.

gotcha. i remember all of TDK threads. had to of been way over 40

TDK
Haven't you read about the 1 year post. Now people are attacking it 1 year later, like somehow it is dated already or wasn't as good as people remember.
I didn't think it was the reinvention of the wheel when it came out although I did like it. Had some nice surprises I really did not see coming. But the wheel. No.
OML Disclaimer....
Except for Joker. The single best character ever created. All movies should have CGI Heath Joker inserted in them. Just like lesbians, there is no film that is not made better with a liberal dose of the Joker.

NO I did see this and fwiw I'm not really on either side of the fence. I enjoyed TDK but I wasn't screaming it was the best movie ever made or none of that shite.
I left this out of the conversation on purpose, it's just way too complicated. I tried to keep it KISS. And the only real comparisons from TDK and Taken are the amount of threads started on the Movie/TV Board.
