After the hidden ball trick last year....

it sure is nice not to see UC Irvine in Omaha. I don't know that I've ever been more frustrated at one call in my life. The ump didn't even see the play. It's one thing to make a mistake as a ref/ump , but another thing to make a decision off of a team's "antics" from what they thought was an out.

If they would be in Omaha they would be due for an asskicking tomorrow night at 6:00.

every time the opposing team gathers at the mound and then goes back to their respective spots on the field, that stupid play is always in the back of my mind. it was horrible...pathetic and horrible.

But it was ok when Jared Mitchell acted like he caught that line drive in the regional that we got a double play out of.

Actually, he was going to throw it back and the ump called it out, so he stopped his throw in mid motion. Watch the replay. What did you want him to do run over to the ump and say "no I didn't catch it, you were mistaken."
Don't be ridiculous.

he didn't act like he caught it. i casually threw it in, actually looking disappointed. he held up two outs, only after the ump said it was a double play. he knows he got lucky.
every team catches a break..that was one of ours.
but yes indeed---

No Jared, it's ok you don't have to hide it. Welcome to the board.

The only thing that pisses me off about the hidden ball trick is the fact that most of the people that argue about it being a horrible call would be hooping and hollering if LSU would have done the same thing and talking about how great of a play it was.
BTW: LSU has pulled the hidden ball trick in their past.
and BTW2: :beatdeadhorse:

No one would be hooping and hollering if we were obveously increadibly late on tagging the other teams runner who was safe by a mile.
Its more of the fact that it was nowhere near the right call, and that was painfully evident to every single person there but the umps. Thats why people are pissed, not at the play itself.

i for one like the style of play UCI has, I wish they were playing in Omaha
Posted on 6/12/09 at 1:05 pm to mikelana24
ANTCHEATERS- they practiced that play

The people that are mad at UCI for even running the play are stupid, since it's legal. The people mad at UCI for acting like they got the guy out are stupid, too, as that type of stuff happens all the time in sports (including in favor of LSU). Everybody acts like they make a great play, even when they didn't, if they think it can help the team. Basketball players flop to get calls. They also will point in their direction when the ball goes out on a bang-bang call, even when they know it touched them last. Football players act like they make a catch by celebrating, when they know they didn't, etc. Be mad at the ump, no reason to be mad at UCI (for that play, if you have another reason you don't like them, like their coach, or something, go ahead, hate them all you want).

anybody who doesn't like them for that play is pretty hypocritical

I also like UCI, and the play. Its clever and fun to watch.
What pisses me off is when umps dont watch the game. Thats why I hate that play. It has nothing to do with UCI.
