If you're boiling big shrimp, .5-1 pounds per would not get it done with adults.
This is, of course, assumming said boil is being held in south LA.

2 lbs per person if boild if you have vegies, crackers and dip. Should be some left over. We just fried up some 15-20 count shrimp this weekend. And we did 10 lbs for 9 adults and some kids. We had 4 lbs of french fries and a pot of red beans and rice. All shrimp and fries went with a little beans left.
