Agreed. If you've got nice head on shrimp, I'd say about a pound to a pound and a half is plenty on average, per person. Especially, with other sides.

for the avg person it is 2-3 lbs.

If you're boiling big shrimp, .5-1 pounds per would not get it done with adults.

This is, of course, assumming said boil is being held in south LA.
