I was hoping some of you stat masters could provide some info on the three visitors to alex box this weekend. Any stud pitches or hitters other than the ones wearing purple and gold. Does SU have an ace that could be troublesome?
And yes, I am being alittle lazy, but also suck on a computer.

I've seen Minn play twice this spring on DTV Big 10 network. They won both games but the defensive play was not impressive. Not sure what their fielding stats are but that can be misleading. They just didn't seem to have the range to get to balls LSU normally gets to in both IF and OF.

You can go to the SWAC website and get Southern's stats.

The Gophers are definitely an offensive team.
Their best athlete is CF Eric Decker, but he struggles at times like most two-sport athletes do.
Their All-American candidate is 2B Derek McCallum.

Thanks, I didn't think of that.

I doubt Cador throws the lefty v. LSU. I think he lets Maloy, the ace, throw. He is mid to high 80s with a nice breaking ball.
Read this from an earlier thread I started.
quote:
Ole Roger Cador has heard too much about these Tigers to not start Chase Richard. We have all joked about it before, and if you're in his shoes, throw Richard in game 1 and hope to stymie the LSU lefty bats, but if you lose, then you still have your next two options available to make a run through the loser's bracket.
You think he will still start Maloy?

Just saw the sports on tv, and the game was 11-5 last time. Mid-week games don't mean anything at this time of the year, but I don't think it is impossible for Southern to score 5 runs again. However, I can't see their pitching holding LSU under 5 runs. A right-handed pitcher with a fast ball in the mid to high 80's with a nice breaking ball will not shut LSU hitters down. I can't imagine that Southern's hitters have seen pitching as good as Ross more than a few times this year (Ross is upper 80's to lower 90's with a good breaking ball). So unless LSU doesn't hit, I don't see the upset.

Said a million times by many...
"It's baseball and ANYTHING can happen."
It's one sport you can truly say...There are NO GUARANTEES and NO LOCKS.
That is what makes the game of baseball GREAT!
(and there's no crying in Baseball)
