I think I just found the second least deserving "Best Picture" winner of all time... "Rain Man" being in a class by itself.

Slumdog would have been an amazing story if it were based on a true story, and it was an OK movie, but after the first instance of Jamal being able to answer a question because of a past life experience you just knew that every other question would have the same background, which made the whole thing feel predictable and forced.

For me this film suffered from one other unfortunate circumstance... the fact that I had already seen the superb "City of God", and there was very little hope that Slumdog could touch that one in terms of production, action, acting, and gritty ghetto reality.

EIGHT Oscars? Come on now.

I thought it was pretty damn good.

Worst "Best Picture" of all time = Lost In Translation.

That was kind of the point. Destiny is a very predominant theme in Indian cinema. It was his destiny to be on the show and reunited with Latika. All of his life experiences led to it.

Are we REALLY expected to believe that an actual person with his history would have taken that last risk?

The movie was too implausible in too many instances.

This make ZERO sense. If it was based on a true story it would have been amazing, but since it's not, it's just an OK movie ?

The story is the SAME either way.

This movie, IMO, was intended more as a fable than anything to be taken literally. Not one of the great movies of all time, but a charmer I'd say.

+1 "It is written."

Great movie IMHO.

Wow. Disagree. Starting at 1990, Slumdog is better than:

English Patient - 1996
Titanic - 1997
Shankespeare in Love - 1998
American Beauty - 1999
A Beautiful Mind - 2001
Chicago - 2002
Return of the King - 2003
Crash - 2005
Departed - 2006
No Country for Old Men - 2007

I didn't care for it at all. Definitely one of the most overrated movies I've ever seen; it doesn't hold a candle to City of God. I also didn't care for Benjamin Button...

I completely agree with this. Some of those movies are really, really good, though. I also agree that City of God is a lot better than Slumdog, which, based on my previous statement, says a lot about that movie as well.

Well, we were REALLY led to believe you fell asleep with a cock ring on, that's pretty far fetched too.

I thought Slumdog was good, but I agree it wasn't off the wall like they made it seem.

Too predictable.
