Tigers playing at the Arizona State regional...will take on Cal-St. Fullerton at 4:30 Friday on ESPNU. Game time temp. will be approximately 100 (but it is a dry heat)

The other teams are Arizona State and San Diego State. This is one of the more competitive regionals out there.

Damn, it seems like they get shipped out west a lot over the past few years.

In the last few years, they have played a regional at Stanford, super-regionals at Arizona State and Arizona, and now a regional at Arizona State.

Yeah...I would like to believe the new Tiger Park will be hosting several regionals and super-regionals in the near future...

I thought the main reason they didnt host in the past was facilities, which was one of the reasons for the new stadium

They hosted last year...and ULL came in and won it. The NCAA does weird stuff...this bracket this year was supposed to have a geographical theme...keeping teams close to home. But that didn't always happen. Arizona was a national seed, and they have to go play a regional at Louisville. Washington is the 3 overall seed, and they are travelling to UMass (Washington's park doesn't have lights, and those cheap bastards won't install them so they can host regionals). I thought LSU had a good chance to host and have them bring in a national seed, but it didn't happen.

Next year when Fico arrives and if she is everything we all think she is and if our record is good enough to host a regional you think the NCAA will send Arizona St. here at Tiger Park? We could have sold out the seats and the berm had they let us have a regional here.

I would love to punk a Pac-10 team at our new park in a regional some time...

in the past the facility was the road block in hosting regionals, not the record... this year it's the other way around

as far as fico, she can't get here soon enough.. also we have a top notch catcher coming in who should take over b/c it's almost an out every time russell steps up to the plate.. i give yvette a hall pass this year considering what has happened w/ dani, now mack, and also losing the projected starting 2B after returning home to take care of her mother.. don't be surprised if we pick up another impact transfer over the summer either.. yvette deserves to take some heat if she can't get the job done next season

I think the team's record this year is remarkable considering all the problems/youth they have had. They have the whole team back next year...plus Fico and the new catcher. Yes, next year needs to/should be pretty good.

yeah but getting swept by UT and not scoring one run against UF is unacceptable for the program.. hopefully they can redeem themselves w/ a solid outing this weekend and sneak up on ASU and CSF

Tennessee was a pain in the arse team to play...a bad matchup. We had trouble with their slappers in all the games. Florida had like 34 shut outs this year and had a streak of 11 in a row toward the end of the year (including the 3 against us)...so there wasn't a great shame in that (but it did suck)

If anyone remembers we had a very similar team 4 years ago. Pretty much all new players. Yvette and team struggled throughout the season and was left out of the tourney. This year we had a similar situation but we made the tournament.

It is very similar to the women's basketball program who would play great and then show signs of immaturity. Like everyone said softball is a pitching game and we have one legit pitcher as Shortridge is a 3 inning thrower and Mack is no longer pitching the way she was earlier in the season.

While this team did lose to Florida and struggled adgainst Tenn, they did sweep Alabama. They have the ability, just need the confidence. I do think the regional will be very tough because of the youth but we could make some noise.

One quality this team has is the ability to battle when they get behind in games, as they had to do in both games when they swept bama and almost did in the SEC tourney. pithcing depth will be a major factor though b/c mack is done for the year w/ i think some type of wrist injury.. i do agree that this team can sneak up on anybody, but i'm really unfamiliar w/ college softball outside the SEC

They didn't deserve to host a regional FWIW. I hope they can prove the voters wrong and win out.

I like watching softball. Me and the family make the yearly trip up to Oklahoma City for the Softball World Series.

What happened to Mack, btw? I saw that she wasn't pitching anymore, but never read anything about an injury.

Stress fracture in pitching arm. Not career threatening or anything...it just needs a few months of rest to heal.
