I know she has been posted about on here before, but I just saw Rachel Fico (sp?) interviewed on ESPN First Take. She has set the national record for perfect games in a season. Has allowed "2 or 3" hits this SEASON! She was throwing pies and tomatoes at Skip Bayless to prove her accuracy. Best of all, she seemed to be really psyched about becoming a TIGER!

Disclaimer: please don't flame me on this - it's a slow day as I am at home recovering from knee surgery yesterday. GEAUX TIGERS!

You missed a great game last night! Ben told me you were have your knee scoped - how did that go?

And, I can't believe you'd think that the Rantards would flame on you!

The knee thing went fine. Should be able to avoid replacement for 5 or 6 years. I heard the game was great. I only have one question? Who is this? (Not looking for you to identify yourself fully - just give me a hint)

She should try out for a major league baseball team.

She's still growing/getting stronger, I'd imagine. Go get 'em girl!

Welcome to LSU.

"Rachel Fico's science and math teachers have calculated that her 68 mph fastball on a softball field is equivalent to throwing 103 mph from a baseball pitcher's mound."

I hate to hang too much on this one young lady, but she brings to mind the dominant pitchers at Texas and Tennessee a few years ago. I don't know all that much about softball, but if pitching is really the deal-breaker, than maybe this gal can come on down to Louisiana and help us raise another national championship banner.

I agree. LSU has been a solid program and she may be able to finally take them over the top to that elusive national championship.

I always hate these analogies. They base it only on reaction time. Even if the reaction time is the same, hitting a ball going 68 mph is MUCH easier than hitting a ball going 103 mph.

She's a junior? I think that's what they said.

That was last year. She routinely throws 70 mph now.

Didn't hear that, but I think she is a senior. Interviewer said she lost the state championship game her freshman year, then won it all her soph and junior years, and is now looking to make it 3 in a row. (I think I heard that right - anyone else see the interview?)

...from 35 ft is smoking. Also the movement on a softball at that speed and distance must be insane.
