well i was off a bit..my dad coached this kid a couple years back in long beach youth baseball league, and made him sound bigger, and he's a freshman..but you get the picture..big dude for such a young guy
DT NICK JAMES (6-4/305), Bay St. Louis (Miss.) St. Stanislaus
2012 PROSPECT
COMMITTED TO: To be determined
PERFORMANCE: Was active and aggressive in a loss to D'Iberville (Miss.) High.
STRENGTHS: James has a great motor and works hard in pursuit, something that is rare in a youngster. He has terrific size and body structure and looks the part of a senior, not a freshman. He has good feet, is strong at the point of attack and has unbelievable upside.
WEAKNESSES: Just needs to improve on the mental side of the game – making his reads quicker, diagnosing plays and finding the ball. – B.S.
btw he is a DT, #71

Good size... If he's from West Monroe thats not that odd, they produce some big boys in the area. Ruston finally has a freshman class as big as those guys and now we're 4A. We have a freshman who is 6'4.5 270, and another who is 6'3.5 265, and 14 more over 6'. But the largest group is a group of 9 year olds that are from Ruston and play together and won their little super bowl at WMHS stadium this year...these kids are freakishly big and are fathered by several former Tech football players as well as a bunch of 6'7 good ole boys

I'm serious, these kids are huge for their age. How many 5'2 125 8 year olds do you know? I don't know how it happened that so many tall men had kids around the same time in Ruston, but they did. Also, most of these dads are friends and extremely serious about sports... and I know its strange to mention the size of kids so younge, but when you see how they dwarf other kids their age it really gets you attention. My lil biy won't likely be one of these giants. He's in the 97th percentile for his height now, but as my wife is Cambodian I have a feeling that will change

yeah my little bro is 5'0 and in the 10th grade..still a little rascal, but he's tough..plays for stanislaus also..but may never see the field

You never know. The smallest guy in my high school class(in the early 90s) was under 5ft as a freshman, then his mom had him take some kind of growth injections over a few years, and by the time he graduated he was near 6'3! I might need to look into whatever she used

There is alot of this going on now days....just like there is alot of kids on the juice now, just to compete.
It's crazy......
My son is 5'4 and 100#'s and though I wish he were bigger...i'd never artificially do so and take a chance of harming him later in life.

I wouldn't do it either... I was joking, and in fact the guy i mentioned actually never was into or played sports and I have no idea what he was given as a growth hormone, I just know he grew alot in a short time

8th grader at my kids school. 6' 1" 240 lbs. What u think?
There are some things you need to consider here.
1. His age, as another poster already said. Is he a "young" 8th grader or "old" eight grader?
2. Physical Development. Does he look like a full grown man or sloppy fat? Some kids just grow early. They were touting TMitch as the next Shaq when he was a 6'6" 7th grader but he ended up being a 6'7" senior.
3. Parents/Siblings. Does he has big parents/siblings. This actually ties into #2

Like I said before he is young 8th grader. Most of his teammates are holdbacks therefore a year older.
He is not fat. Looks really good in and out of the uniform.
I know his dad. Not huge but not small. 6'2". Probably around 230lbs.

If this is a feeder school to WM you forgot to mention he's also at least 3 years older than a normal 8th grader...

I was 5-5, 100# at that age (ie. considered "small for 8th grade")

I was! I tore it up playing soccer for BRMHS...well, until they realized all I could do was chase people and steal the ball.
PS. - headed to Monroe Thursday. Can't wait!
