had been once before and was not terribly impressed. however, have heard lots of good things, so went back tonight...I was soon reminded why i was previously unimpressed.
the service was good, and our waitress seamed to know the menu very well. however, she did repeatedly ask, "how's everything; is the wine good; how does it taste". I know that's just part of the job, but it was a little overbearing.
for appetizer, my wife had the salmon, and i had the bacon wrapped oysters. the salmon was very good...simple, classic. the oysters did melt in you mouth and had good flavor, but the texture of the bacon overwhelmed everything else.
main course, my wife had veal piccatta, and i had the lamb chops. veal piccatta was incredibly bland, very little flavor. lamb chops were served with some sort of raspberry port wine reduction. You would expect a very bold flavor from this combination, but it just was not there. lamb was cooked with appropriate temp, just very little flavor.
bill was 105$ (also two glasses wine and two cocktails, which were good) with 20$ tip. i was very disappointed and i will never pay for another meal there.
i have heard chianti widely panned on this board. we eat there quite frequently, and i much prefer it to any other italian in shreveport. also l'italiano in bossier is excellent as well. i will sooner go to olive garden than giuseppe...at least you get what you pay for there.

everything you said is accurate. i've had the lamb chops and thought that the rack of lamb at outback was 10 times better, it was like 40 bucks and they were tiny, we go to chianti alot more, try Mare next to chianti, its delicious and its the cousin of the owner of L'italiano.

It's such a shame that Shreveport's pool of good wait staff is so shallow - I blame the fact that there's not a major university, so every intelligent 18-25 year old leaves town. I echo the comments about the food - I've only been to brunch but it wasn't good.
How was the crowd when you were there? We went for drinks at 8 on a Saturday and the place was dead.
