I like Cormier's though I season mine differently at home.Haven't been to Crawfish City in years but remember then to be good, also.I don't buy them out much but it's usually Cormier's when I do.

Cormier's likes to think that dousing their crawfish with Tony's is the answer to "cajun crawfish" (whatever the hell that means). Basically, Cormier's wants to boost their beer sells by making your hands and lips burn from cans of Tony's. If you ask me, the Monroe sheeple think Cormier's is the best because they say they are. In reality, they suck. It's a good place to go sit and drink with friends, though.

I ate there once, about 5 years ago. It seemed to be the best place at the time.

Why Frank and Janie's never lasted in Monroe is beyond me.

I think one died and the other retired...not positive, but I think this shut them down.

The wife, who basically ran Frank and Janie's died. The husband tried to continue running the business but didn't have very much success. There is more to the story, but basically "Frank" let it go.

Also, you may think Cormier's sucks, but you would be in the minority, and also wrong.

Stl, I am well aware that i would be in the minority...in Monroe. Having lived in all corners of this state (and raised in that area), I can tell you what good crawfish is and it sure as hell ain't Cormier's. But whatever floats your boat. They don't have much to offer in Monroe in that department.

I think a lot of North LA eateries are as good/better than those down here in BR and NOLA. Crawfish places are not in that category.

What the hell is the deal with that....every place here in the DFW area with boiled crawfish do the same thing. I think they boil the crawfish in plain water, without rinsing them, and then throw like six cans of Tonys on them and they taste like crawfish with dirt and cayenne pepper....Now I stick to doing them myself....

If you don't like Cormiers or Crawfish City, try Cypress Inn on DeSiard, or Bayles Landing at the foot of the old bridge in WM. They were decent the few times that I ate at those places, years ago.

We don't eat crawfish in Monroe very often, but the last time we did a couple of years ago, we went to Cypress Inn. We enjoyed them, and I wanted to see if anyone on here agreed with us, or if they just tasted good to us because we get them so seldom.

Thanks, Ole Geauxt!

Does HOB-NOB still do crawfish?

they use to and they were pretty good.

Once again, i'll say that my sister owns a crawfish place, but they sale the bags, my brother in law is not really doing much catering....

I too have lived in all corner's of the state and I too know what good crawfish tastes like. Cormier's is by no means tops in the state, but it doesn't "suck" either, as you stated earlier. Mr. Cormier is from south Louisiana, so it's not like he is cooking some sort of Monroe recipe crawfish.

If you like your crawfish tasting like a can of Tony's, then to each his own. I seriously cannot stand them. I do, however, like their temperature of their beer and had many nights of fun drinking there.

Larry makes his own seasoning, and it's much more coarse than Tony's, though it's certainly similar in flavor, as are most cajun seasonings IMHO.

He does move alot of crawfish.Somebody likes 'em. Captain Avery's does a good job with their boiled crawfish...Byron uses the No.2 seasoning that many caterers and resturants use...not my favorite as I like alot of bite , but he does a good job and always has good quality crawfish. I hear the Chenie Shack outside of West Monroe serves some good ones, too.
