Kreuz Market.

1/4-1/2 pound of shoulder clod, one link each of regular and jalapeno/cheese sausage, get both crackers and white bread.

Walk into dining room. Order a side of sauerkraut and a side of German potato salad. Don't forget the fresh made salsa on the condiment table.

Have someone drive you home-you will be out of commission.

Kreuz over Smitty's

I've never been to either.

A second for KM, but neither can be beat.

Both very good. IMO, better than Coopers

It's the same family-the Schmidts, I haven't been to Smitty's, but I hear that they are just as good as Kreuz.

Kreuz used to be in the old market that Smitty's is in now.

Kreuz built a new building down the road a ways and has been doing the same great BBQ ever since. I haven't been back to the old market since Kreuz moved down the street.

Kreuz and Smitty's cook differently than Cooper's, there are many places in the state of Texas that are light years, I think, ahead of Cooper's in Llano. Never been to the one in Mason, but I've never heard anything about it, so I guess there is no real reason to visit.

I have been to all three of the bbq spots in Lockhart (Smitty's, Black's and Kruez's). I agree with the above posters and think Kruez's is the best. I am a big fan of the fatty brisket with the saltine crackers and sliced cheese with a side of jalapenos. In my opinion, this is the best bbq in Texas.

Should be run out of the state of Texas.
