It's hard to compare Bowe to Clayton. Two different styles of play/receivers.
naw they were pretty much the same. that's why it's so easy to compare them
clayton was just slower and less athletic...and he didn't make the highlight catches as much (but was more consistent with the small ones)

That's like saying who's better: Rickey Henderson or Albert Pujols.

I'm just saying they had two different styles of play in college. The RH and AP comment was that they have vastly different styles of play.

not really

bowe and clayton were pretty much the same WR in terms of style
bowe was just better, but dropped the ball a little more and had to split time with better WRs (but with a better QB)
they both ran the same routes, blocked as well as each other, and were the "big" WR in jimbo's offense

ugh, no he wasnt. they each did certain things better than the other but all you have to do is look at the stats.
i dont think its even in doubt that Clayton was our 2nd best reciever ever. Bowe is top 5 to me. but outside of his last year he wasnt that solid of a reciever. he never had a 1,000 yard season.
and Bowe wasnt really "faster" than Clayton. Clayton was clocked at a 4.52 and Bowe a 4.51. atleast thats not enough to brag about.
and clayton played along D. Henderson who was a very solid reciever and outshined him.
you cant say that Bowe was "just" better and NOT say IMO. bc thats all it is, your own opinion, not a definite fact.
the only fact yo can base it on is statistics, and Clayton has him beat im almost everything outside of TD's

well he did have to split catches with another 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick at WR. clayton didn't have that kind of competition late in his career (he did have reed his freshman year)

yes, he was
clayton was not fast. he ran a 4.71 at the combine. otherwise he was pretty athletic, and he was 6-2 and change (like bowe), but he was not fast
quote:bowe ran in the 4.5s and then ran a 4.40 at the LSU pro day. clayton ran a 4.7 and a 4.6 and then ran like 1, 4.5 at the pro day. huge difference
Clayton was clocked at a 4.52 and Bowe a 4.51.

and the fact that bowe has done something outside of 1 fluke year in the NFL

is Devery Henderson, a 2nd round pick, not good enough competition?

what they did in the pros has nothing to do with were they stand in LSU history.
i know Bowe is a better reciever in the NFL.
but while he was at LSU he had major league struggle with simply catching the ball. you cant say that about Clayton. he was about as sure handed as they come.

clayton was a better football player, and had a better career at LSU, but Bowe was raw when he got to LSU and needed time to develop. That's all there is and there isn't any more...

by the logic of the "better player" argument, no player can possibly be better than clayton until LSU sucks again
Posted on 4/5/09 at 10:22 am to SlowFlowPro
if RR is accepting of a lesser role than he is used to until he learns the playbook, adjusts to living away from home, etc. he can be better because i think Crowton is one of the best around.

Clayton was a better player over his time at LSU vs Dwayne Bowe == no player can possibly be better than clayton until LSU sucks again???
you're hereby denied the use of the word "logic" for 10 days...

the whole "better player" label gets put on clayton b/c he played DB for 1 half of an exhibition game and played special teams
now that we have more talent, we don't have to rely on our best players to do shite like this anymore
as a receiver, their blocking was equal. bowe had many more big plays. clayton made more small plays consistently

no, he gets the better player label because he did it over his entire career, whereas Bowe took some time to evolve. Clayton had more catches and yards in 3 years vs. Bowe's 4. And not only did Clayton play special teams, but was pretty damn good. 15 tackles his senior year.

Bowe had a great Sr year, besides that he wasn't on Clayton's level
