Tiger Practice Report---Thursday/Sat

First off, LSUcjb318 gave a pretty accurate review of the thurs practice/sat scrimmage...pretty clear JJ working primarily with the ones, JL w/ the twos, and Shep with the threes...both JJ and JL have added muslce, and Shep's youth is exposed when next to the other two...JJ clearly throws the more accurate and tighter spiral, followed by JL...Shep's ball lack velocity and accuracy and several players were ovewrheard giving him a hard time...However, Shep is lightning quick, and although never contacted, clearly would have broken several open field runs in a live situation...of the wide receivers, there's basically the top 2(Lafell and Tolliver) and then all of the rest...of "the rest" Molton and the other Tolliver stood out the most, with Jackson and Mitchell next...RB play was solid across the board, which is to be expected with so many vets returning...Didn't get to watch O-Line drills but looked ok in scrimmage/inside run periods(wasn't 100 % live so hard to see much)...I thought defensively, the unit as a whole was MUCH improved and most of the high intensity was coming from the defensive field (As it was a few years ago)...Peterson is light years ahead of where a kid his age "should" be, and will have a huge huge year in my opinion...more to come...

hmmm, other guy said JL threw the better ball?
and if that is the case, JJ has really improved since Dec with his throws.

How'd you get in there to watch practice?
What are your qualifications so that your opinion should matter?
ETA; just wanna make sure you're not a purple and gold glasses guy.

So, its confirmed C. Tolliver didn't suffer a major injury then? You said he was on the field. Because I know he was hurt...

About the 1:53 mark of Sheps vid is just pure sick.

No bash - serious question.

According to reports, Brooks was great on man coverage. Al Woods and Sidell Corley reportedly looked very good as did Jacob Cutrera and Ace Foyil at middle linebacker. John Chavis expects a lot from his middle linebackers and was always strong at that position at Tennessee. Kevin Minter, Perry Riley, Kelvin Sheppard and Ryan Bakers also played very well.

Is Ace Foyil playing MLB?
NO.
Will LB - Kelvin Sheppard; Ace Foyil; some walk-on
MLB - Jacob Cutrera; Kyle Prater and Larry Minter split time as #2
Sam LB - Perry Riley; Ryan Baker; Shomari Clemons (in green jersey)

do you think cutrera should be starting?
he was TERRIBLE in pass coverage last year.

he should have been starting last year.
go back and chart our defensive performances when cutrera was in versus when beckwith was in. night and day. just look at arkansas alone, for example. mind boggling.
yes, cutrera made some mistakes, but not nearly as many as beckwith.
also, everybody who listens to the coaches this spring will tell you that cutrara has impressed chavis tremendously with his rapid uptake of the chavis principles, his ability to get the front seven in place before the snap, and his aggressive play so far. he just needs to stay healthy. keep your fingers crossed on that.
