Should the LSU offense practice for pick sixes?

This is not meant to be a knock on JL but should the offense practice tackling on pick returns?
If JL does see significant time (JJ injury or any other reason), then it may make sense to throw a few intentional picks and then have the offense defend the turf. We don't seem to be too good at it right now.

Yea, thats what i said last year we would have been a better team but our offense could not tackle..

I'd rather them work on the offense. Tackling wasn't an issue on the pick-sixes, in most cases the guy was untouched. Somebody did run down the one JJ through at Ole Miss to save the TD there.

It gets really old reading comments from "tiger fans" that disparage our players.
All of our QBs deserve to be supported by our fanbase.
JL has carried himself with nothing but class. I wish our fanbase could do the same.

My Jr. High team practiced for INT returns on offense and defense. Hell yeah they should work on it. one or two a season can be devastating but 6 shows there is a systematic problem.

No kidding here either, while I didn't play college ball, in High School we practiced incessantly on "covering" after a pass in all situations.....and, expectations were that there would be no "Pick 6's"......
that said, when the QB throws one in the "flat" such as in the Auburn game early in the year, you can forget about "covering and tackling".
It did appear to me that the Tiger Offense was pretty lackadaisical in their "covering" of JL's passes last year....perhaps they just got tired of the INT's and this was their way of showing it, but regardless, something they should improve on (hopefully, fewer INT's this year, though so we don't have to test that theory!).

I don't think we had that many losers on the team last year...

I don't think so either, but I am of the opinion (after watching with my own eyes on some of these INTs) that later in the season, the players appeared to not do a very good job of getting to the ball after the INT. It would be nice to give all the credit to the opposing defenses, but in reality, some of these INT's should not have been Pick 6's.....not trying to take up for Jarrett Lee; I think he played poorly down the stretch, and needs lots of work to improve, but still think the Offense did a poor job in "covering". It's one of those "little things" on the playing field that a player won't do well sometimes, and think they can a "free pass" from the coaches for "not being their fault", especially when they're dejected and/or tired. I personally think that the players were lazy on some of those plays. So yes, I think they can improve in that area.....much like in "special teams" play.

that's not their job.
maybe if the QB didn't throw off his back foot into double coverage, it wouldn't be such a big deal
?

So if Charles Scott fumbles, it's not the job of the players on the field to tackle the opposition? If Chad Jones makes a pick, it's not the defensive players job to block for him? This maybe one of the most ridiculous things I've read on here.

no you fricking moron, it's not the offenses primary job to tackle defensive players going the other way.
is that hard to comprehend for you?

Maybe he was a freshman against three no. 1 teams in the country, and playing in the SEC. He needs to not stare down the receivers and he'll do fine. I think Stafford threw 5 or 6 his freshman year. Some calls were stupid plays the coaches sent in. The one in the flat was not the way to break in a freshman, just stupid.

hello rat, good to see you are still feeding the rant with your vast knowledge on our QB situation. keep fighting the good fight.

3 number one teams?

that's the conference LSU plays in right?

yeah, that would be great.

and jarrett lee isn't stafford.

+10000
I agree with this. Crowton seemed hellbent on the crossing patterns and throws to the flats for lee.

Thre can be no argument...when an interception is thrown, it is every offensive player's primary job to tackle the guy that intercepted it.

maybe the QB should work on NOT throwing a fricking pick?
the offenses job is to score points, not to tackle people going the other way.
my goodness the rant is really lost its fricking mind.

Speaking of fricking morons ... where in your previous post did you mention anything about tackling being the offense's primary job? You stated "it's not their job", which is a ridiculous statement. Obviously you've never played a competitive sport. If you're on the field and the opposition is running in the other direction with the ball, it is your fricking job to tackle that player ... period.

Chad Jones in the backfield, would have been a beast.

oh I must have forgotten that the offenses job is to tackle people now.
whoops!
