Ticket & Parking Pass Waiting List

Has anyone out there ever paid the $10 to LSU and been called to say they've been awarded season tickets or a parking pass, or is this just a cheap shake down by LSU to get $10 bucks out of more people? I signed up for the baseball parking pass list before season started, and received an e-mail literally 5 minutes later that said something like "sorry, we don't have enough passes; sign up on the list again next year". I feel like I've just been told that I got my shoes in the French Quarter.

I did this year for some reason. Hope mostly.
I won't get called for season tickets though.
Is it a way for LSU to make more money? Yep. That's a given. What do you think the overhead on maintaining a list is? Hell, I can keep an Excel spreadsheet on my desktop for free if they want. Just pay me minimum wage as a side job.

We waste $10 on all sorts of things, yet some complain about this. It's 10 fricking dollars. It won't bankrupt you. If you think LSU is cheating you out of $10, then you should consider not doing business with them. I wouldn't do business with anyone I think is screwing me.
You could donate lots of money and get whatever you want.

It's not the money. I'm complaining about the premise by which LSU generates it. You can't friggin tell me that LSU didn't already know I would not even be close to a parking pass when they inform me 5 minutes later. They should shut down the list when they know they aren't going to get everyone covered, plain and simple.

I got on the baseball season ticket waiting list last year, and got my season tickets. I was lucky, though...I have reason to believe I was among the last people called. And I owe it to the size of the new ballpark. At the old Box, I'd have never stood a chance.

Have you called them about it or are you just going to make some assumptions and complain on a message board?
Don't sign up if you think it's a scam. It's not complicated.

You are the problem here. "If you don't like taking it up the butt like I do to get tickets then just get out of the game". You are the guy that makes it soooo easy to tack on extra fees for all things involving LSU.
What if it was $100 to get on the waiting list? Does that put a dent into your pocket Mr. Moneybags? What if we up it to $200? Would you still be so blase about it?

And you are a pompous arse. Now that I see you don't need a waiting list I understand your replies to threads like these.

It's not complicated. Demand for tickets are at an all-time high and LSU is taking advantage of every opportunity. Capitalism is nothing new in America, though it is coming under attack these days. Guess you guys are just joining that bandwagon.
If you don't like it or can't afford it, then don't buy. There are many others who will fill your spot. One day prices may fall when people can no longer afford it and you can get back in.

I agree 100%.

Let's talk capitalism here for a little bit. Capitalism is a great system that happens to produce great products for the consumer based on competition between rival businesses, but when does capitalism break down the most? Monopolies. Monopolies control the price of the product without the added pressure of making the product affordable or better for the consumer. TAF is a monopoly. There is no alternative if you want to attend an LSU football game.
The price of tickets have skyrocketed and there's really nothing from stopping the escalation untill the football team starts stinking it up.
Capitalism is a the biggest excuse for scalpers and the best way for the haves to justify the ticket prices to the have nots. In reality this is capitalism run amuk.

Wow, just wow. You do know that TAF membership is not required to get season tickets?
You lost any credibility with that statement.

You may want to rethink your statement. Based on the email that was sent out regarding the waiting list, "All season tickets and parking passes will be distributed using the LSU Priority Point System". And how do you work your way up the Priority Point System? You got it ... you get points based on the number of years you've donated to the TAF.

That is the unified points system that includes the LSU tradition fund. You do not have to sign up through TAF and pay annual membership fees to them to get season tickets.

symantics ... you build up your "priority points" by making donations to the university. The bigger the donation, the more points you get. You also get "bonus" points by donating to TAF. Regardless, paying MORE money just to get on a waiting list is a bit excessive, even if it is only $10.

I've had season tickets for a few years now, with no parking pass. I paid the 10 bucks about 5 or 6 years ago to get on the waiting list for the parking pass. Never got the pass. The first two years or so, they'd mail a list of how many numbers were ahead of you, and it would climb by about 20 or 30 numbers per year. I figured it would take about 5 years, and my number would be due. They quit mailing the list a couple years ago...and I got an email just the other day, asking for $10 to get on the mailing list. The original $10 was supposed to be until you made the level to get the pass. I fortunately have been buying a pass from a friend of a friend so to speak, so I more or less forgot about the waiting list. Bottom line...I think it worked at first, but got screwed up in the last year.

"Waiting List" is a misnomer plain and simple. You pay an extra $10 to not be looked over for football tickets even if you have the priority point you need.
If it were a true waiting list then it would probably be 1st come, 1st serve and not need to be paid for every year. The list is basically regenerated every year. The question is why does there need to be a list when priority points are the only deciding factor on who get's called first?
