I think Taz is our best post defender and given that they don't play anyone over 6-8 any appreciable minutes I see it as a no brainer to put Taz on him.

Unlike CJ I think Taz can guard him without help in the post and also guards better in space than CJ as I think Howard likes to put it on the floor too.

The other 6'8" will be Temple's man . He(Gordon Hayward) is the deadly 3 point shooter. He's is the guy that if anyone shut down Matt Howard he'll come to try and save the day.

Unless you like Chris Johnson chasing guys around the perimeter, you are best to put him on Howard and give him double-team help. Butler primarily runs a 1 inside, 4 outside set with lots of movement and screening.

From the Butler perspective, here is how I think Butler will defend (and it will be man-to-man, Butler plays roughly 20 possessions of zone the entire year).

Mitchell - Willie Veasley, he's only 6'3", but a very good post defender who held his own against Horford two years ago.

Thornton - Ronald Nored, Nored was the primary defender on Stephen Curry when Butler played Davidson, and forced Curry into a horrible shooting day and tons of turnovers.

Spencer - Shelvin Mack

Temple - Gordon Hayward

Johnson - Matt Howard

Don't underesitmate Howard. He often looks a little awkward and then head fakes and drop steps a bucket on you. He looks like a lumberjack until he comes out of nowhere and swats one into the seats. His outside shot is not smooth or pretty, but he is really good around the basket. I'm sure you'll hate him by the end of the day and call him much worse than gay
