Surely he'll be moved back into a starting role now, right? Do we have guys in the pen that can fill his shoes?

No. It was a special situation today.

No reliable guy as of right now. And that's probably why he won't be a permanent weekend starter.

So you think we're sticking with Bradshaw on Saturdays? I know it's early in the season, but it seems like he has a knack for getting roughed up early.

Maybe, maybe not. Coleman will be a utility pitcher like Bradford was last year. He'll start some games when we really need him and he can. He'll come out in relief only at times when we really need him.
I think we will try a different pitcher on Sunday next weekend after Ranaudo and Ross pitches Fri/Sat IF Coleman gets used a decent bit in those first 2 games. Chris Matulis, Shane Riedie, Matty Ott...heck don't be shocked if Bradshaw is back out there.

Louis Coleman is hurting right now. I think he pitched Wednesday , Friday and Sunday. I think he will be the savor of the team from now and on.. Right now We have three guys that can pitch Otts, Anthony, and Louis.

That can "Really Pitch"
Ross was getting hit all over the place today.
Matulis apparently not, don't see him much.

ross was excellent last year, and has been excellent so far this year
ross went 6 inning, 8 hits, 4 runs, 7 k, 0 bb
not a great outing, but certainly not terrible...so what exactly are you talking about?

I said Really good pitcher.
Ross gave up 4 runs on 6 innings on a 7 inning game. Everyone was getting a piece on him. Dude over thrown first base in a really bad decision today, had 4 ERs , threw a few balls on the ground.
I'm not saying he's bad just not great yet.

Now today was probably not one of his best starts but 4 runs against a quality SEC opponent is certainly good enough to win games. He was one mishandled throw away from only giving up two runs

Ross and Matulis have been pretty good, odif not dominant.
Where has Bertucini been? Is he hurt?

Ranaudo went 6 innings giving up three. Thats a one run difference yet you put Ranaudo and Ross in two different categories based on this

I wouldn't make that move.

Ross has been good.
Having said that, he and Ranaudo are in two different leagues.

Yeah you are right but he was really starting to struggle on the last two innings. I remember slapping the seat in front of me trying to make as much noise as I could to rally him through for those last two innings.

I understand that Ranaudo is a big time, big league type pitcher. He will have gaudy K numbers and his stuff is unreal. But if your going to name a group of pitchers that are the best and most dependable on this team, Austin Ross has to be in there. Him and Ranaudo can contribute similarly for this team

yea, if the defense turns that double play in the 4th or 5th its a new game
