I like the kid. I hope he succeeds. I'm not saying he is the right fit for the Tiger offense, but according to reports from the first week of practice, Lee threw more solid passes. His struggles last season were mainly due to decision making. If he grows up and matures I think it's a real possibility you see more of Lee than you might think.

Lee has plenty of backers on here. Go look at that huge thread on the First LSU Football Practice of 2009, for example.

Possible but not likely with Sheppard here.

his real issue, IMO, is leadership. he has to get the team to respect him in the huddle and that was largely shot by the end of the year. I think it would be real tough on him to start over JJ, unless JJ is injured. Now, if JJ struggles and Lee comes in, does well and gains confidence, then I think he'll be fine. If Lee and JJ were equal in terms of decision making and leadership, I'd give Lee the nod, but they're not equal in those terms right now.

I think that's a bit exaggerated. His physical ability is not the problem (except for scrambling ability). It his mental game that needs polish. The mental game can develop significantly in the off-season through film and study.

Shepard has promise but not polish. It will take time.

JJ is a FAR bigger obstacle for JL to overcome than RS is presently or will be in the future.

JMHO, FWIW.

Chances of JL starting this year with a healthy JJ: 0%;
injured JJ: 10%.

Chances of JL transferring after this season 100%.

Fans aren't helping. People don't realize he is young and the first true freshman to start since herb tyler. I haven't given up on him, but he does have some steep competition this year.

Going with the smart bet, you have to say JJ will start. He's got the confidence and skill.

BUT, there's something about JL that keeps me thinking he might be great one day. I guess it's just his attitude. His quotes off scout are a sign that he wants to prove everyone wrong. And as we all know, that's the best motivation one can have. With that being said, I think he has a great chance.

Look for that kid to make a push for the number one spot.

For all those douches that say, frick JL, go to hell. The kid was put in a tough spot and tried his best. That's all I or you can ask of him. If you think otherwise, buy a flux capacitor, go back in time and prove you can do better.

I think there's a possibility of a 2 QB system (like Flynn and Perriloux in 2007), he might get some PT, especially in blowouts, but I don't think he'll be a starter at any point
