Mostly because that one play won the game and put LSU football in the major national spotlight. That was our first real big game of the year, college gameday was there, record crowd, all the eyes in the nation were on LSU. and we came up big that day. to me that play represents the ascending of LSU to a national powerhouse.

The UGA win verified that LSU was a team to be reckoned with in the SEC that year i'll agree with that. But, all eyes in the nation were on LSU in the National Championship Game also played in the national spot light in front of a record crowd. Nat'l Championship > Home SEC win over Top10 team...especially when we drubbed them in second meeting in Atlanta later that year.
Not that I didn't go nuts after UGA win...did anyone see Trev Alberts before the game?? Still a huge UGA knobslobber.
