This would be a horrible thing to happen. Anthony is one of the nicest most down to earth guys you will meet. Always smiling and cutting up. Hopefully they get something worked out.

Wow, my girlfriend is an immigration attorney here in San Francisco and deals with a lot of Central Americans that have TPS. Hopefully something will be resolved soon in this case!

I think you are wrong about doing nothing and being a drain on our system, but this is not the forum for that discussion.

I have a feeling that this situation may be resolved prior to March 31. Even if nothing happens with the Liberian TPS situation, Landreau could introduce a bill in the Senate that specifically addresses the Zeyhoue family. I wish them well!!

Not very likely, less than a handful of private immigration bills get passed a year. If there are 10,000 Liberians in the same or similar situation (and Lord knows how many from the dozens of other countries that have human rights refugees seeking asylum in the US)other than a connection to LSU what makes this case particularly special so that Landrieu could get it addresses and passed?

I said she could introduce it, not very sure it would get passed.

There is an anguishing asterisk to the story. The youngest Zehyoue, 15-year-old Manterrinan, doesn't have to be deported. She was born in the United States after the rest of the family had risked their lives getting here.

She could stay here in a foster home while the rest of her family is sent away. That leads to a troubling question: Is it better to stay in the relative comfort of the U.S. without your family or follow them to a war-torn country trying to rebuild?

Young Manterrinan knows nothing but America. Her family wants nothing but to stay here.

thats the one i know

There are a lot of Tiger fans who hate Dennis Dodd. I am definitely not one of them, now.

What a fantastic article to draw attention to Zeyhoue's situation.

I heard about this a few weeks ago. I'm glad it's finally getting some publicity and hopefully some people with some authority to help will get involved. Anthony is an outstanding young man and his family have truly contributed to society in positive ways. It would be a shame if they were required to leave the country. He is only a few months away from completing his Master's Degree and will be a great role model as a teacher/coach.

I just sent a link of the article to Congressman Boustany, don't know if it will help but it does not hurt.
